Debating selling my gear. Thoughts?

I'm thinking of finally selling my DVX100b/LEX combo, as well as my Nikon D80.
Why you ask?

To invest in a Canon 7D. I would basically condense my equipment to a camera that seems to me to be a sort of 1-stop shop. I would keep of course my audio equipment, rails, mattebox, follow focus, etc., to use when shooting video with the 7D, but all else would go.

I currently have an array of Nikon lenses (not G type), but I know they can be adapted to the Canon EOS mount, and I'll probably slowly transition to Canon glass for ease of use with the camera.

Would this be a foolish move? I'm looking for personal opinions here, so go for it.

Thanks.

I'm waiting for a good nikon vdslr unfortunately though the money that I'd get back on a near new HVX wouldn't make it viable to sell. If you can get decent money then sell for sure. I probably won't use my hvx brevis again then.

I got a DVX... and I'd do it.

+1 for dump and replace with 7D or similar.

But aren't there still limitations to shooting with a DSLR that can be covered by having a CCD backup? I'm ordering a T2i this week, but holding onto my DVX. I just cannot imagine having to do everything that I do on a VDSLR... at least, not at this point.

The dslr's aren't great for event work and long form shooting, but narrative filming, they rock. Especially the guerrilla aspect. The sound is a tiny bit of a pain, but it's worth the trouble. IMO

Nikon glass works great with adapters, (as long as you buy 1 per lens and get canon rear caps) I actually prefer the old manual Nikon's to the new Canon EF, simply because of the mechanics being a little loosy goosey on the Canon's.

I've had several different kinds from the ebay sellers out there and they all seem to work about the same. Most people go with the fotodiox.
