DEATH OF SEASONS Trailer Released!

loving it man, loving it alot. Extremely professionally done, nice editing, great photography, i like how well its presented in every way including the website. Thats what I see lacking with real indy films, like the have great one thing, and lack everything else. You got the nice total package there. Just out of curiosity what equipment did you use/budget(if you dont mind me asking), ect.

Good stuff man overall, i tip my hat for you.

Amazing work. And CC is just Magic Bullet? You make MB look like a pro level tool.

Good luck with the festivals.

Thanks for all the positive word.

RealityMS: I really appreciate that. It's taken me some time since I can be somewhat perfectionistic but I try to keep everything at a certain level, nice that someone notices... sometimes people neglect that the movie is really also a full multimedia experience, everything adds up to the experience, at least in my opinion. Including the website, posters, etc etc.

xep5k: First time I've been called pooing pooing amazing. The honor is yours, and mine. Thanks bro.

wesley: Thanks and hopefully you will see it relatively soon I am pulling out all the stops to invade the film fests... I'm going to explore the idea of selling some special edition perhaps on here with lots of filmmakery goodies but I won't do that if it jeopardizes the distro deal, but when details arise, I want to do something for the DVXuser community cause it's helped me in a huge way.

HDCinema25: Delfo (Gabriel) worked in the service industry for several years and every day he heard 'You know who you look like? Johnny Depp' at least once, no joke.

Smithhouse: Nice to see things are progressing on VIGILANTES. I will be buying a copy in the next few days man. Keep fighting the good fight.

Paul Coleman: CC is Vegas and MB, yes... The main thing for me with MB was to find unique looks by tweaking endlessly and not pushing it too far. If you do that, it is a versatile and powerful tool. Thanks!

I copy and pasted this from the movie forum because I consider my time very valuable (I'm lazy, ha ha).

DEATH OF SEASONS was shot on the Panasonic DVX100A in 24p Advanced mode (the last scene dial). The 16:9 Anamorphic Adapter was utilized while the camera was in letterbox mode, this gave us true cinemascope 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

In retrospect I probably would have not used letterbox to give more compositional cropping options in post, but it was nice knowing exactly what I was getting when framing.

As far as lighting, 3 500w JTL softboxes that could be converted into direct sources via reflector dishes and barn doors, 100w Reveal clamp lights (these proved to be invaluable), and just natural light whenever possible. (The DVX *loves* sunlight)

Gonna have to keep the flow moving on this one... excellent job so far. Finally something I'd actually LIKE to see in feature format.

Chance,
The work you've done here is simply amazing and nothing short of professional. You have definitely pushed the envelope in terms of getting very filmic shots using mb and vegas. A couple of things that I want to know if possible:

1. I noticed lots of noise in some of the scenes. For example, last trailer - the guys talking to each other in the restaurant. The protagonist has lots of noise. The shots of the other character are cleaner. Was that intentional or just because of the lighting?

2. Without going into full details, what kinds of things did you tweak the most in Vegas/MB to get that sort of glossy look to the skin tones. If you want to go into details then by all means do. I don't think I'm the only one interested anyways.

Thanks for any info!

Please go into details on the CC process you did.... Also, could you post a few before and after shots?

Well shot and edited there's no doubt about that you have talent. One minor visual nitpick. In the "Gabriel" trailer, specifically the shots of him talking to the audience at the beginning, the framing seems quite off a lot of the time (too much head space it seemed).

Also the actors seemed a little out of their depth.

WOW. These trailers you have up are just awesome! The images are terrific, and now I'm completely focused on finding out what goes on in this film.
