Dead pixel on A1-Cost of repair?

Greetings,
I recently purchased a used Canon XH-A1 and have discovered that there is a dead pixel. I've yet to determine exactly what causes it as it is not always there but I do want to get this problem taken care of.

Does anybody have a rough estimate as to how much this repair will cost through a Canon repair center?

Thanks in advance!

Are you saying that estimates can vary wildly from repair center to repair center or that the estimates will vary due to estimated repair needs?

Wouldn't a dead pixel always emanate from the same source or are there many ways this can occur inside a camera?

There are many reasons that costs can vary, including the source of the problem and (believe it or not) how scrupulous the repair tech are. One example, my A1 had a broken FW port and the repair came out to $270. Another of my friend had the exact same problem and his estimate was $800. There's no way for you to check on the actual parts/labor costs and so you have no way of knowing whether the guy behind the counter decided to inflate your estimate and pocket the difference. Quickest way for you to find out is just to bring the camera in, and if you argue with them they might give you a few percent off.
