Dawn of the Dead...

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

At the beginning when her husband/boyfriend turned zombie and she escaped to the bathroom we kept yelling at her (like the idiot we are, they NEVER take our suggestions) "DON'T OPEN THE DOOR!!!!"  So what does she do?  SHE OPENS THE DOOR!  Isn't that one of the top 10 things NOT to do when being chased by rotting, dead living corpses - DON'T OPEN THE DOOR!!

Oh, well, maybe someday someone will make a horror movie where the lead character DOESN'T OPEN THE DOOR!

Horror Movie Plot:

Character 1:  Open the door!
Character 2:  I hear growling and bone cruncing from the other side!   I'm not opening the phucking door!
Character 3:  But you HAVE to open the door to push this idiot subplot along!
Character 2:  Its not my fault they only had 3 days to write this stupid script, I'M NOT OPENING THE PHUCKING DOOR!

Director: Open the PHUCKING DOOR!!!

;D

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

It wouldnt be any fun if the door wasnt opened! LOL Like in Scream when Sidney says "..always running in the house when she should be running out the door!".

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

It would be fun too if they decided not to open the door. Why? It makes the characters feel safe, and the audience has a breather...then they (the characters) turn away from the door and Ahhhhhhhhhhh! It's lunch time for Ronnie Rot Face!

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

I saw this recently and I liked it. I didn't think I would, since I'm a huge fan of the original.

On a side note: I used to work at a Suncoast store in a mall. Every morning, they have a "mall walkers" program in which (mostly elderly) people walk through the mall for exercise. Imagine going to work every morning surrounded in a mall by shuffling old people. I felt like Ken Foree. ;)

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

I didn't get a chance to see the new Dawn of the dead, but Night of the living dead is in the public domain and can be downloaded in the feature film section at archive.org.

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

I hated it.

WAIT! WAIT! hear me out, i'm cool with everyone who digs it, i'm just not into it.

It's weird because i love zombies, or rather i like the idea of zombies, but i hate the genre. Everytime a new zombie movie comes out i get excited, but am ultimatley disapointed when they turn out to be... well, zombie movies. I really like Night of the living dead, dawn and day really turn me off. 28 later was... ok. I hated Dawn2004.

ok, so anyway, what I REALLY posted for...

JOHN, didn't you say you were making a zombies movie? i thought u said you were starting it like the following week and that was maybe months ago. Also wasn't the deal that it might turn into a series or something, i dont remember.

So yeah, FILL ME IN!

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

What did you hate about it? :-/ :-[ :D

Just curious; I confess it was not perfect but damn I had fun with it.

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

lol i can't explain to someone who appreciates it. Like i said, I dont like the Zombie genre. I always expect something incredibly atmospheric and horrifying, instead I always get something shallow with a ton of cheap laughs.

I actually went to the theater to check this out, which was a huge deal since i hate most horror movies, and ppl laughed everytime someone died. It's like these ppl go to see how each character gets killed off. And the bad dialog and cheap laughs always just take me out of the movie. I'm ranting more about horror movies in general than Dawn.

Anyway I just come off as an ass to folk who enjoy them.

But what about that Zombie movie, did u do it?

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

Im diggin your take on the Zombie genre. Im easy when it comes to people having their own opinions; exceot for my sister in law does not like Braveheart (she found it boring). That, I do not understand.

No, I have not officially shot the damn zombie thing. Damn it.

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

This movie was more hilarious than it was scary. I had a lot of fun watching this movie with my date. I also had fun watching my date too.

He's not really a first time director, he'd been making commercials for quite some time before deciding to direct DOTD...

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

yeah well, in that case no director is a first time director.

Can anyone tell me of anyone who made their first feature in the last few years and didnt make a commercial, a short or a music video. If you CAN I bet your wrong and just can't find it.
