Dawn of the Dead...

I just went back 4 pages, and didn't see a thread on this so far...

It just came out on DVD and I saw it last night, I liked it until the end...drives me nuts when movies leave you with a ...(blah whatever) feeling...

What did you think of this movie? Another question, I can't stop thinking about this movies weirdness...

Have you have seen a movie where you're just screaming, "What the F are you doing?? RUUUN!!!" or "No...aw...come one...You KNOW that's not the right thing to do in that situation!!!"

The whole movie I thought that...

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

Well, everyone here knows I am loving on this film. Such a fun ride in the sub genre of horror. I loved the ending! I loved the "What the hell has happended to them..." feeling over the SAILING OFF INTO THE SUNSET feeling.

It was not a perfect film by no means but one of the best in the genre and a sequel was recently announced by the same fimmaker and Universal. I thought it was a fun action horror film!

The DVD has some DELETED scenes that are pretty cool but the best part is that they are UNCORRECTED shots. Huge difference in the way they CC'd this film.

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

Dawn was the best, day i didn't like... but yah Dawn yummy (are we talking about the 70's version, i havn't seen the new one)

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

DAY OF THE DEAD is my favorite among the ROMERO DEAD films. DAWN was fun but too much elevator 'muzak' and lame looking blue zombies for me. The best parts of DAWN for me were bvefore they get to the Mall. NIGHT of course is a classic among classics.

If you havent seen DOTD 04 you should. Its fun stuff.

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

Speaking of Zombies. A new office has opened up across from mine (Inside an office building) and everytime I step out of the door there some odd characters milling about. Guess what? It's a LMFT (Phschotherapist) and PHD (Headmonkey) office. Yeeeaah! Yipppeeee!

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

Sweet, I was wondering who else liked this film...I thought it rocked...

John...So...Crazy zombie people...Any pics?? heh...We can have some photoshop fun!

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

Serious. People talking to themselves. laughing out loud at nothing. Moving their heads around in odd patterns. Freakin me out. Im not a fan of unstable people hanging around outside my suite.

I was watching some Directors commentary last night for DOTD and its pretty good. SOme interested tidbits as always in the making of it.

Great film. Cant wait for the sequel!

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

Did you hear the part about the helicopter? They said they CG'd the helicoptor to look like the same one from the original...

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

I missed that (although Im half way through). I did like finding out about the Mall being CGI. I was like NO WAY! Also, the FX shots mentioned when they are running people over.

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

yeah nice film.

it made my stomach churn. not because it was just scary, not because it was gory but because of the mood that it puts on. like the rest of the world just left you... and you have no where to go...
and that did it for me when it ended like how it did-
it was brutal for me. but i have yet to sift through the director'd cut- bought it yesterday. yay.

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

Great film,
The part where the old fat lady turns into a zombie was disgusting. Disgusting and great. :o

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

It says in the commentary that that fat lady is really a dude and was Chris Farly's stand in. GO figure!

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

That guy got hired...

"...Living in a van, DOWN BY THE RIVER!!" (Saturday Night Live)  ;D

I love the little girl's jump in the hallway in the beginning, that's so messed up "zombie world" logic...I love it!

Hey John, I always think of you when I see that, its something cool you'd think up!

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

Didn't the sheriff that was interviewed and asked another guy to "shoot the twitcher" work in Romero’s version? (not on screen, off screen)

I watched Boogey Men 2 on Sci-Fi last night and they interviewed everyone from Landis to Romero to Carpenter to Toby Hooper about all kinds of cool making of stuff on their horror flicks (Texas Chainsaw, The Thing, Living Dead, etc, etc, etc) and that guy was on there discussing effects from the original. (I think)

Carpenter was the funniest by far especially at the end when they were showing off-the-cuff stuff and he said he was extremely confident that he could revolutionize porn, funny. The interviewer asked him how and he barked “I’m not gonna tell YOU that.”

I take it your not into horror movies. That guy is Tom Savini. Probablly one of the best FX artists ever. He's worked on everything from Friday the 13th to Dawn (In which he also starred) and Day of the Dead. He was also in From Dusk Till Dawn, and he directed the remake of Night of the Living Dead...

Re: Dawn of the Dead...

No, really into horror flicks actually, I guess I didn't catch that one. Thanks for the info  ;)

I just watched this again, great movie. I rotate between 28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead, Texas Chainsaw, House of 1,000 Corpses, Wrong Turn, Cabin Fever for background noise/visuals while I work and it was this ones turn again ;D
