Excellent work. This clip is again a good example for what you can get out of the cam if one understands to handle properly this "softy" . It wouldn´t be a surprise to me, if some day after flogging it, a couple of guys wish oneself back to the look of the D90.
The lighting set-up was extremely simple. I used a couple of two foot four bank kino's. The background fill was a 650. The yellow glow is coming from a practical halogen "Bug" lamp. The studio space it was film in was really tight. There was a 12 piece drum kit mic'ed up so it didn't leave me with much room. To compensate for it I broke out the Zeiss 100 macro to shoot all of the textural stuff.
As far as custom curves I have my D90 set to capture the flattest most neutral image it can so I have the most flexibility in post.
In regards to "Capice" I truly do love the look of the D90 and plan to shoot all I can with it. I shot a short on it Named "Elsewhere" which will be submitted to festivals this year. I am planning another music video in April too. I consider the d90 a true "Digital Super 8 or 16mm" if that makes sense. I have considered abandoning the use of HPX-HVX for my personal shoots all together! Now if if I could only do slow-mo with it...
yep it really puts that argument to bed. The trouble is not many people have posted good res 720p files to have a look at.
Word. Your body of work is blazin btw.The thing that I have noticed is that there are lots of "Camera Tests" out there and not enough real productions. I hope this encourages more people to take the plunge and shoot a small scaled production. The d90 is capable of yielding great results.
