D90 footage looks horrible...

To be clear, I didn't have the D90 for a video source; it was for photography. I actually never really bothered with the video function until I the other night. I saw some very nice samples online and the quality just didn't seem to be up to par as to what I saw. I am actually jumping on the DSLR boat for video soon and plan on selling this and getting a T2i. Thanks for the replies though.

Nice job. Looks really good.
Here's one that's just compressed all to hell - this aired on comedy central and something like IFC or oxygen, not sure, didn't do the buy. Delivered it 720p.

This was shot literally the morning after I unpacked the box - one shot (guy in doorway) was with a DVX, kids running was older stuff shot on a sony - and several stock footage shots. Everything with product in it or specific to the script was the T2i (pills, sugar, etc). Shoot to delivery was like 4 days, insane project. (that's my darling wife hating on tiny energy shots BTW, 2nd shot... she's a good sport when I'm in a rush and she has great hair for green screen tests. Funny to have a yoga teacher doing a caffiene ad...)

I wrote the music for this one too, that's kind of my favorite part of all this. The "Strike" plugin for ProTools was a life changer for me, awesome way to write drum parts, truly groundbreaking piece of software.

Get a GH2 instead of the T2i....I work with a Sony Ex1 and a Canon 7D and 60D and the GH2 is my favorite...If you have to go for Canon, get the 60D instead!

60D is great if you need the articulating screen or you just have to record audio to camera - my hood is part of my rails system and I've got no love for Canon's pres/compression - when I use my crane or have a weird angle going I just plug the marshall into the HDMI; if you're still building up your kit the articulating screen could save you some LCD $$.

Thing is, I just can't work with a DSLR without a magnifying hood or a decent sized LCD, so there was no reason to drop an extra couple hundred - YMMV of course, but once you start magnifying the LCD it's pretty hard to go back.

Is there any reason I should go for the 60D over the T2i? I plan on picking up two 7" LCD's anyways...

Look up one post for my .02. 60D gives you an articulating screen and you can turn off AGC without a firmware hack. My understanding is the body is a tad bigger and feels a bit heftier, as if the build quality may be a step up. If you're used to something like a D70/80/90, the T2i seems a little toy-ish, but I've never held a 60D. 60D may give you more color temp controls which is something I could really use if that's the case. Other than those issues they seem to be pretty similar, but AGC and the screen don't make a difference to some users - others feel the screen is a huge benefit.

Just received my D7000 and like has been said before my D90 was not much for video. If you got lucky the video on the D90 looked great at times. The D7000 on the other hand looks awesome. However if you are just doing video I am sure Panasonic and Canon know video better then Nikon. This web site started around the DVX and it had short comings also. But in the right hands it makes awesome video also. Lots of choices in todays market.

So between the 60D, D7000, and GH2, which camera would you say is best for cinema screen filmmaking? With the Canon I have now, I dislike the muddy, fringy texture that is ~45% blurrier than the photographs the camera takes, and I dislike the extreme Nintendo blockage of the color red, as well as moire and noise. By the way it sounds, the D90 sure would not be for my purpose, so is the D7000 better in the video department, and is it better than the Canon? Lastly, about the GH2, it seems to be the best of all, but honesty is saying that I'd rather not hack or handle interlaced - I am NO good at computer software and technology, I just want to shoot easily. As a bonus detail, I'll just say that I like Nikon lenses best of all, hands down.

Just take pictures with it and you will be happy.

Just in case you didn't know DVXuser is a video site. You should offer video suggestions.

My suggestion: Do not get a D7000. get a GH2... it's by far the best VDSLR available and Nikon has been severely left in the dust. There are about 1000 reasons to go for a GH2, I've outlined the main ones here but that was before I actually had a GH2. Now that I own the GH2 I can whole heartedly endorse it. I have a sample of the brutal Canon aliasing here as well.
