D800 & Movi type gimbal rig

How bad would rolling shutter be if a DSLR (D800 or similar) was to be used on a Movi type gimbal rig? Just wondering if you are moving in a forward movement would you still get RS? If you were to move quickly sideways yes you would get it. Thoughts?

Just the same as if it were not on a Movi type gimbal rig. Rolling shutter is a property of the sensor and it's electronics and firmware. Doesn't have anything to do with the mount the camera is on. Said another way, it still depends on how fast the camera is moving relative to the subject.

What the gimbal rig should do, is remove some level of vibration from the camera. This is turn will decrease the velocity, acceleration, and jerk (yes, jerk -- the rate of change of acceleration) that the camera would see as a result of the vibration. IOW, it smooths the attached camera's flight path, which in turn should reduce some of the rolling shutter artifacts. But if you are holding the camera steady and unmoving on the gimbal (or a tripod for that matter) and a fast moving bicycle zips by, the bike's wheels will still be imaged as oblong and not round because of rolling shutter. IOW, you've still got a CMOS sensor reguardless of the mount.
