Very compelling story. Beautifully shot and edited. Great work!
Two technical questions:
1. Did you shoot at 1080p24?
2. What did you use for stabilization for both moving and stationary (ie. interview) shots? Even with a monopod, using my Rokkor 50mm on the GH1 gives the video fatal jitters. I can't imagine what moving video would be like (ie following a subject).
I just caught this Hunter. Had to watch it a few times because the story just drew me in. I felt like I knew her because I have a number of people in my circle that have gone through the same (almost exact) types of things in their lives. This was a great piece. It just goes to show if you put a child in the right kind of environment how it can make a world of difference for them. Makes me want to go hug my kids more.
Anyways... I have a GH-2 myself and love it. But I've always said...if the D7000 didn't have those pesky moire and aliasing issues then that is the image I would prefer. You seemed to avoid al of its weaknesses in this piece.
Your so right Ian about how a healthy environment makes such a difference.
This story will haunt me as long as I live here in Grand Rapids- as she took me around to show all the places she lived before this particular fostercare center- she told me how some people were murdered while she was there, drugs, rapes, beatings, ect- I realized this was in my backyard- all within 1 mile of me.
It makes me wonder how many kids are in her circumstance right now and need help getting out. That stuff will make you hug your kids more and make you lose sleep at night thinking about it.
