D750 or D810 until the 4K dust settles

there's still one step for them to get perfect 1080p, just resolution. Increase it to C100 level and you'be got the best 1080p image on the market.

They will do it eventually, either by maximizing the 1080p output or just giving 4K, all I can predict ia that the next fullframe Nikon video generation is going to be glorious.

How would you compare the Nikon D810 vs. the C100?
Possible to match regulary in post w/o too much effort?
I just _need_ a second FF Body (delicate and important wideangle work during reportages, won't work with modern lenses) and I'm not that sure, if I am willing to go ML with a Canon FF, as I had to start from beginning (Nikon shooters since the '90s) and could not afford a missed shot.

edit: as I have an ole D800, I would be more than happy never ever shooting video again with this body, but only stills :-)

They go nicely but where they really differ is in resolution/sharpness. So if you inter-cut a wide deep DOF shot on the d810 with c100 footage, it will look soft, but if you use it for closeups, it's a lovely match.

I would use a detailed C100 for the wide shot and the d810 for closeups, the fullframe aesthetic and colours makes it looks better than the c100 for shooting close-ups of people, and would inter-cut nicely with c100 images especially after adding post sharpening.

If you want a B cam for the C100 for a wide angle, the gh4 does this much better and will go smoothly with c100 resolution. If you want a B cam for people/closeups/beauty, go with d810, it does this even better than both and inter-cut nicely.

Glad to announce [the D810] doesn't have the same aliasing as the d800, this has been completely fixed with zero aliasing/moire artefacts on the d810, and a bit sharper image
Examples of D810 still image aliasing from DPReview, along with a comparison to the new Olympus OM-D E-M5 II in its synthetic High Resolution Mode. (Scroll down the page a bit to see the D810 shots.)

Wuffer, I've been thinking about testing our C100 against the D810. I prefer the colors from the D810 and it seems to have a bit more latitude, but I'd like to see them head to head. I did test the C100 to Ninja vs GH4 last year and found the C100 fell apart much more quickly when graded aggressively.

For me as hybrid shooter, the D810 and GH4 are miracle cameras because I can carry so little and cover so many bases. Can't tell you how many times I've wished I could capture a 4k still with the C100 in the field.

I can compare both in my mind having shot on both. The most distinct differences are the higher resolution of the C100, a much sharper image (it's 4K scaled down to HD), while the fullframe aesthetic on the D810 gives it a better image for shooting beauty, closeups of peopls, females, dreamy bokeh, where resolution doesn't matter much, in this specific situation (people shooting with shallow depth of field) the D810 is better to my eyes, but the C100 is a better image in every other situation.

These are the two REAL differences, but there are small ones only us notice (not audience)

C100:
-Higher Resolution/Sharper
-Higher DR in Clog, about a stop (tested)
-Better noise performamce (big difference)
-Much finer noise structure abd grain pattern
-Much less rolling shutter
-Slightly less aliasing
-More accurate/solid colour (esp for greenscreen and grading)

D810:
-Larger format = shallow beauty shots of people
-Better highlight rolloff
-(personal) more pleasing colour out of the card, kind of a cartoonish ''happy'' look.

The differences that are not related to IQ are huge, for exampld the C100 has: Audio XLRs, top handle, much more buttons, better monitor, evf, peaking, waveform,
ND filters, s35 size sensor, EF lenses. A much better camcorder in general for video. While the D810 has the following: Fullframe aesthetic, 36mp stills vs 2mp! Smaller body, lighter weight, slowmotion ability, and of course all the stills advantages.

These two camera complimemt eachother very well, C100 for everything and D810 pulling out for beauty portraits if people, stills, and slowmotion
