d5000

I have read multiple articles comparing the d90 to the d5000 and it seems the only difference is the lens compatibility and the kit lens offered. So with the d5000 many lenses will not have the autofocus feature. If I am looking to shoot video with this, since video does not have AF anyway is there really a difference in quality or features that the higher price of the d90 benefits from. I would of course use it for stills also to replace my not so hot sony alpha but I would only use the kit lens, since i do not do anything crazy with still photography.

it also has significantly less resolution on the screen. However I too am interested in the answer to your question as well. I never use autofocus, so I'm wondering if it is even an issue for me.

I love my d5000, video is a pain to get right but once you do or get a workflow down it is awesome. Photos are great, Ive taken some decent shots with it. I suggest the d5000.

So it is only less resolution on the lcd? From what I understand they have the same sensor so the actual image should be the same as the d90 I would imagine.

Thanks. I am giving serious thought to this camera. What is your workflow if you don't mind explaining it? Also what do you find to be a pain with video?

Read the thread at the top, it explains the methods. Another difference is that the d90 uses a pentaprizm while the d5000 uses a pentamirror.
