D3100 not found/won't mount?

I have a question, and I apologize if this has been covered, but my searches didn't reveal anything.

I borrowed a D3100 and I can't seem to find the camera mounted anywhere to import the footage into Final Cut 6.0.6. The photos load into Lightroom, but I can't find the movie files for FCP.. Any thoughts? Do I need to download a driver? It's connected to the computer via USB. Help! :(
 
Non-pro Nikons do not support that mode (called USB Mass Storage). Instead they need to be downloaded via some sort of camera software. The Mac comes with something called Image Capture which will let you drag the files off of the camera to a folder on your HD.
 
Alternately, you could pop out the SDHC cards and put them in any card reader - then they will mount on the desktop.
