Cute kid music video

For my daughter's tenth birthday party, we hired a choreographer to teach the kids some dance moves. The idea was to shoot a "music video" that the kids could take away the next day from their sleepover. The choice song was Nancy Sinatra's version of "Boots are Made for Walking". I was up until 6am editing (mainly waiting for rendering)

It's pretty cutesy and has lots of Magic Bullet effects but it was fun to do and will be cool to have for posterity.

Shot with 2 DVXs (100A & B)

hehe that was cute. But then again, ive always like everything ive seen on your site steve.

Did you use MB grain effect? What levels?

Brillaint, that was so much fun to watch. All the kids are probably going. "Man, you've got the coolest dad!", hie hie!

Thanks but I must give Mom (Linda) most of the credit. She came up with the idea of the music video and got the choreographer, etc., etc.

PaPa, I did use the grain effect and I think it was set to something like 35. I messed around with it quite a bit before I found the level I was happy with. I find the MB grain to be almost more like TV noise in its characteristics rather than actual film grain...it seems to bounce around just a little too quickly. I couldn't see any parameters that would allow me to control that.

That was great.

My daughter's 8th birthday is next month and she is having a "talent show" birthday party were her and all her friends will be performing. I am going to shoot it and cut something together (assuming my HVX arrives by then).

That was great !

You have yourself a young Nicole Kidman going on there. I loved the look of the vignetting and old celluloid. Great !

this here is some good stuff! Kind of makes me wish I was a father so I could make fun videos like this. I've got plenty of time to kill before that happens though. Until then, I'll just watch your great videos, Disjecta. :)

One more for the record books, D.

I loved to cut away rehearsal shots. Very nice idea. You must have been up all night just waiting for MB to render!!! Wonder you ever got it burned.

Congrats to your Tara.

PS -- didn't know you got the B... what's that your 3684?

Thanks Mike :)

My company asked me to outfit them with a shooting package so I recommended the 100B. I just got it so took it for a test drive on this shoot.

Maybe I'm just asleep but I didn't get your "3684" reference :undecided

John, I told Tara about your Nicole Kidman reference and I could tell from the look on her face that you made her day...

Thanks for all the comments.

That was great! I loved the rehearsal cutaways too. Lots of character in the video, and Tara was great.

My son just turned ten, too. I did a short out in the woods of northern Michigan with some of his friends.

Being a dad is very fun. Especially with a DVX in hand!

What's your nickname for your dolly --- or your extra glass --- or ... you know what I mean.

hehe

Man - everyone must love going to your house for birthday parties. I'm taking notes on how to be a cool father from you. ha,ha

Those short films you do are great ways to document your kids growing up while being creative. It's really inspiring.

Hey,

Cute concept but for something shot on the DVX a lot of compression artifacts. Is this because you used MagicBullet instead of Final Cut?

I'm rather sure he uses Premiere. MagicBullet is a set of plugins that give you LOOKS to the film.
