Custom shock mount for the Zoom H1

I've seen people stuffing the Zoom H1 into a Rode shock mount. I thought it looked ridiculous and I couldn't imagine that it would work well.

So I threw together this ridiculous looking thing. It works well.

1 hot shoe adapter
1 coat hanger
20 silicone rubber bands
1 T-nut

Cool, does it work well? From the looks of it, it probably wouldn't reduce much noise would it?

It works pretty well. Transmission through the mount is reduced enough that if I'm careful with my handling, those sounds don't make it to the mics. There's still transmission through the air, though, so if I bang on the camera or press buttons, the H1 will pick up those sounds.

That's an interesting design. Thanks for sharing. I just made one today for my H1. I still get a little handling noise but nothing that can't be controlled.
