C100: Custom File Naming?

I've been looking through the menus and manual and haven't had any luck, but does anyone know if it's possible to set a custom file naming convention with the C100? By default it names the clips based on the date and time. For example, 20121221082723.mts. I would love if I could set it so there were shorter, sequential file names.
Has anyone figured out a way to do this?

I dont believe you can. I dont know any AVCHD cameras that have this feature. Would be great to be able to or at least not every newly formated card start with 00000.MTS. Makes it tough when you have several cards in one project that's edited native in premiere pro.

Alas, this is an issue with the AVCHD Codec, and the contrivance to adhere to standards.

AVCHD tries to emulate the structure of a Blu-Ray disk and therefore the file system tries to make all files consecutively numbered, and of course restricts the user to have the same video format and frame rate on a storage device (so you can't mix, say, 25p and 60i on the same card).

This is of course an absolute PITA for archiving rushes. If I'm using something like ClipWrap to re-wrap MTS files into MOVs, I use Renamer from http://incrediblebee.com/ before importing into my NLE of choice. That's a Mac based view, but there are similar options for PC users.

Thanks for your replies. Matt, Renamer is great. It looks like I'll be using it a lot more now though!
In our worfklow we treat each card (whatever camera system, whatever type of media) as a separate "reel". So upon transfer each card is placed into a folder with a unique reel number. In the past with FCP7 I could add a reel number prefix to each file name in the log & transfer process. By adding that prefix I never have to worry about ending up with multiple clips of the same file name within the same project, and I'll always know what "reel" it came from if I ever need to access the original file from the "tape library" on the shelf.
This is why I wish I could customize the file naming convention on the C100. By the time I add the prefix the file names get to be pretty long.

Another good feature of the C100 + Atomos Ninja 2 combo... set your disk (actually Ninja name), scene and shot prefixes in the Ninja.
