C100: Custom Eyecup Solution

I'm about to jump on C100 bandwagon, tried it last week and liked it a lot. I think I can get used to viewfinder, but come sort of eyecup is necessary. The question I have - am I the only one who thinks that it would be possible to put some sort of magnifying glass inside the eyecup? I think it shouldn't be too hard...

Here you go...

For glasses wearers: The only feedback I've received so far is less than ideal. Here is what my new friend Adrian had to say about wearing glasses with the prototype:

Without my glasses, it's really great! makes an excellent seal with no light leaks. I imagine with a chamois (my personal preference) it will be even more comfortable.
With glasses....hmm....
To be honest the round style eyecups aren't great for glasses wearers anyway so not a problem specifically with your design.
I have to wear my glasses to shoot because I'm shooting documentary and constantly need to look away from the viewfinder and back again.
Problem for me is light leaks. I'm a right eye person so I get light leaks from the right hand side.

I'm not sure exactly what we can do about this, and of course everyone has different glasses. I am certainly open to suggestions!

Thanks Drew.

Joe, I've since also seen one other take on wearing glasses with the C-Cup (along with a photo), not surprisingly offering a different opinion:

From: http://www.newsshooter.com/2014/02/...-to-improve-the-c100-viewfinder-with-a-c-cup/

"The C-cup is made to fit the C100 and it does this well. It is solid enough to for a good point-of-contact and your eyes can get optimally close to the viewfinder image. You don’t fell like you are looking through a long tunnel and it blocks out light perfectly adequately. It’s also large enough to fit glasses wearers – which is an issue with other eye cups."

I wish the answer to this was more black and white. Still open to suggestions!

I HATE contact lenses, but they are a necessary evil as far as I'm concerned when using cameras.
I just noticed that in my photo I'm wearing glasses. Don't let that fool you. I probably hated that day and had fog/smudges on my glasses!!

I used the C100 with the C-Cup tonight for the first time and it was excellent. I'll definitely be using the EVF a lot more from now on. And I wear glasses. With the included chamois it was really comfortable.

Thanks Andrew for this great product.

I don't own a Z-Finder so can't compare, but using the C-Cup tonight gave me a great 3rd contact point when handheld. I found the EVF good for focusing with peaking on.

Thanks Drew! I'm glad you like it.
