Betacam2,

Does this poll include cameras other than HVX200? I didn't think the HVX200 shot 1080p.

btw...I'm shooting 480/dvcpro50 for musical performance stuff going to DVD, and 720/24pn for my indie project (because I'm not sure where it will end up)

Maybe you can add what fps folks are using also, Betacam2.

Interesting info...thanks

How do you figure it doesn't? Everything it pulls in is 1080P then it downrezzes to 720 and 480 respectively. Am I missing something here?

Hey Indywannabe.

Yes, the HVX records 1080p 24, 24pa, 30p.

As far as other cameras: I was just looking to see what people with the HVX are shooting, since they have the option to shoot pretty much any HD resolution, I thought it would give a good idea what most people are going with.

Adding frame rates; I was considering that, however, I was worried the poll might get a little too long and be a bit confusing, so I didn't add them. I'd think it would be cool if people added their prefered frame rates to the topic.

Thanks!

I'd be interested to hear why people choose certain resolutions; Because of amount they can fit on P2 (720p 24n), that was the requested delivery format, they feel it is better image quality out of the HVX, or whatever reason they may have.

Thanks again!

720pn24, 720pn30, 720p30 for timelapse. I did some tests with 1080 vs 720
and determined that the trade off of P2 card time versus quality was not even
near worth it. Too miniscule of a difference.

The majority of my clients are broadcast and require 1080... hence I shoot 1080 more than anything. However, I have shot one project that is 720 24pn.

I shoot 720P/24PN mostly, but that is due to the card size. When I get a 32G card (or larger when they become available) I will start shooting 1080p. 1080p gives you more options later on.

This has me a bit confused as well. I had heard that built in factory limitations prohibited us from getting true 1080p (although a Hydra would take advantage of full capacity of said chips).

Wouldn't it be correct to say 1080i/24p, 1080i/24pa, 1080i/30p? Thus the 2:3 pulldown for 24p and 2:3:3:2 for the 24pa for the 60 fields per second to be recorded to tape/P2?

Honestly, I am unsure of the answer, but I do believe 1080p is not possible with the current camera setup.
