Cradle Of Filth - Forgive Me Father, I Have Sinned

Hey guys, one of my favorite new songs of this year, the song the title of this thread just mentioned, had an accompanying music video with excellent make-up design and music-to-motion choreography, it may be my next favorite music video next to Lady Gaga's extensively creative Bad Romance shot by the guy who did I Am Legend, and Steven Wilson's Harmony Korine shot by his long-time artistic partner and amazingly unique photographer, Lasse Hoile (who recently shot a great documentary about Wilson, as well.) Anyway, about this Cradle Of Filth video, I've been digging it for weeks now, the whole glam goth rock tones and super high energy of the song, mixed with really good close-ups of the band - it was directed by the same guy who did their famous video for their Nymphetamine single, if you know of the band's super high profile on Roadrunner Records and such.

Anyway, the reason I'm throwing all this out there is I just found out the video may have been shot with a Canon DSLR! I watched a clip of the behind-the-scenes, and the only camera I could see filming anything (actually, it was the only camera on set) was what appeared to be a Canon DSLR, right in the faces of the band where I know the shots have been.

Here's the making-of clip for you to decide what you think about if the DSLR was used!

And here's the music video itself, I do sense that it has slight digital format HD tones, because of the slight lack of detail on the bricks + skin tones + the ugly appearance of Dani Filth's facial pores, so it may make sense...but I could be kicking mud in that diagnosis:

If it was indeed shot with a Canon....it's extremely impressive what lighting techniques can do! If you notice, the video also takes alot of cues from DSLR video trends, like Bokeh blurrying in the glitter and lights, and alot of depth of field shots or out of focus notes. The one thing I don't see however is aliasing, but admittingly I don't see anywhere where that would have been a horrible problem to begin with, except maybe the guitar, which seems to be more-often-than-not out of focus.

It certainly was shot with a DSLR, at least for the hallway scenes. You can see the focus rectangle in their monitors. I love the lighting they did in the hall, wish they had more shots of that instead of Dani Filth's face.. which I don't particularly care for his new look lol.

Nice to see some blackmetal representation on these boards! Although CoF have have been around for a while, I'd like to link to a new video by a black metal band that I have enjoyed at times (although I'm thinking this was not shot on a DSLR (zooms and super slow-mo especially) the art direction and post work are pretty good, which made this enjoyable to watch)

And for all of the people who think this is musical garbage and takes no talent, watch this video, which is the orchestral-only piece of this previous track.

I know right! I personally love the orchestral track to Progenies by Dimmu, it works entirely by itself, and then the actual metal track of the song is that much better, and alot like how Gateways ends, I loved the ending to Progenies where the singer goes into brutal preacher mode and just blasts out these really uplifting lines and sounds even more wicked + epic. And with Gateways, I loved the female guest vocalist, especially at the end too, and I thought it was really neat how the video was very white as opposed to the usual blackness of the genre.

And @ dani's make-up, lol I was pretty shocked too! Kinda reminds me of Gaga, Kesha, or Adam Lambert....but with the video kind of taking on the sort of bokeh tend, along with there just being alot of fun to the song and all, I ended up really getting a very demonic, twisted feeling from how eerie dani looked and I ended up loving it and how the camera really seemed to love it to :P. Like he almost looked like he was trying to lure little children in with his glimmer to eat them lmao. And then with the almost-no-make-up suit shots, he even more than ever reminded me somehow of Ozzie!
