Cr@Zy from the Heat!

Amateurs! To get away from the heat here I vacation in hell during the summer.

Storytime: I use to live in Texas and, like a fool, bought a black Lexus with all black leather interior. In the winter it was fine, but come summer the car became a mobile suana with heat waves, literally, billowing behind it. At one point the air con went out. It would just make a loud hiss sound, like the screatching sound the aliens from Invasion of the Body Snatchers make, when they see a human who hasn't been snatched. Anyway, this didn't impress the ladies much - "Wow, nice car, ...WHAT'S THAT SOUND???". The repairs were going to cost a fortune so I decided to sweat it out until winter. To avoid the heat, inside the mobile sauna, I would roll all the windows down and stick my head out the window, like a dog. When driving to work I would wear only a towel and then change clothes at work. Repeating the routine after work. Now, everytime I see a Lexus, I hope they're either sweating from the heat or sweating from the monthly payments. :)

Add this to moments in at least Loner and The Egg Movie No.7, and one would get the impression your nekkid all the time!

I'm really enjoyin having gotten a window air condioner a little over a month ago for my bedroom/editing room, which has three computers running in it, one with a Prescot core Pentium. This is the first air we've had in years, and it cooks in here without it.

About Crazy From The Heat....

That is the title of one of the deepest, most humanly honest pieces of literature I've ever spent my time reading....the autobiography of David Lee Roth. I thought a time or two there I was going to reach enligtenment while reading it, because it was breaking down so many of my methods of preconcieving human beings with its stark contrast with the man I had believed DLR to potentially be.

Today, my Dad came down (1 Hour and 20 minutes away) to meet me for some BBQ and give our son some little toys and crap he had bought him. With the heat index (which includes humidity as a major factor) it was 102 degrees, and when we were in the parking lot saying by to my dad, our son locked the doors. I had cranked the car and put the air on, and my wife had left her door open when she put the toys in the car. He just locked it, and when my wife closed it....

We had to get my dad to take us out to our house so we could break into the house and get the spare keys, and go back and get in before the engine overheated from setting there idling in the heat with the air on maximum...with no air blowing over the radiator!

We made it, and all was fine, but then we saw this redneck couple broke down on the highway and asking if I would jump them off. So I'm letting him, and while he was doing it he crossed the wires up and the car rado started making the weird, deep frequency pulse, and now, about every 20 minutes, my "serice engine soon" light comes on for a while, and then goes back off. Its never done that until about 5 minutes after driving off. It made me hot on the inside, being afraid of the potential $ I'm going to have to spend getting it fixed, but the whole thing gave me a lot of new material for movie scenes, so it'll even out. I just thought it was strange to having some of my bad karma pay off right in the midst of performing a karmatically sound activity.

I won't even tell you what I'm wearing (or not wearing) right now.

LOL :) The funniest post I've read in a loooooong time.

Great story, Daniel. But you're not the only one to lock his keys in a running a car. My dog locked me out of my car years ago, while parked at a gas station. We WERE going to the park, but after paying to have the doors opened, I decided to take my dog to the vet, instead. He was neutered and never locked me out again.

Daniel, you should post more often.

Oh god, that was my biggest fear....having to pay some money. On the one hand, I was afraid of having to pay a locksmith $50 to come spring me....but on the other, what if my engine overheated and was seriously damaged...that might cost hundreds of dollars!

Well, since if I called a locksmith I would definately have to pay $50, and if I ran home and got my keys and came back, I might have to pay out close to $1000, I decided to chance it, and the gamle paid off. So I spent $30 at the bookstore, saving $20.

Yeah, it's also the name of DLR's first solo record (Just a Gigolo & California Girls). Yeah, I used to think he was cool in the day. However, whenever I've seen him on TV (or even in person) in recent years, I can't stand him. He's such a fried-out, egotistical goofball. I saw him on the Howard Stern show and Howard treated him like a punching bag. Howard's synapse was firing at about 10 times the rate of DLR.

Yeah, that was a good story, PK! I could just see you getting pulled over by a cop and trying to explain why you're wearing only a towel. :)

You see, thats exactly what I thought about him and what most of my impressions of him were based on, yet when I read his book, I felt so intamately connected with his true self...there is a brilliant, organically and profoundly humble...and suprisingly insightful human soul hidden behind all that strange outer projection. You may even find yourself realizing that he probably had to manifest himself in the manner he has by mandate of the needs of The Universe. You know, The Universe does indeed work in mysterious ways! Just witness the Humble Bee:

Daniel - That was the strangest looking bee I've ever seen. You might have discovered a new species. And it didn't look humble. I noticed an attitude when it looked at the camera.

wonder who lives in the actual hottest areas on here?
100+ fahrenheit [37.7 c+] temps... anyone?
im talking about the kind of heat you die in if you sit too long in it. lol
im in southern cali right now, sub 100 degrees in la, thank heavens.
but still hot nonetheless!
t

Las Vegas - It's cool today. Only 108 with 19% humidity.
Today is the first day in the past 12 that we will NOT break 110.

ONLY 2 MORE WEEKS!! and ill be enjoyin that hot Vegas weather..and this shitty sticky Jersey weather!! i cant wait!

My best hot-weather car story was last year. It was one of the really hot ones where it was damn near 100 F (37 C, for our metric friends) and the humidity was crazy. A fuse blew in my car that disabled both the AC and the power windows. That made for the most miserable drive home from work that I've ever had. I think I lost about 12 pounds.

Unfortunately, my Mac didn't want to play the wmv file.

However, you've given me something to think about (as far as DLR is concerned) and I think I'll have to pick up a copy of his book in the future. After all, you've made good reccomendations in the past (i.e. Ghost Rider by Neil Peart). :)

We have had the first good rain today for barely over a half an hour in honestly around 3 weeks.

The worst 'hot weather' story I have ever heard was from my ex-girlfriends dad who is a police officer. DISCLAIMER: This is pretty gross. They had a report someone possibly killing themself and have been missing for a couple of days. The body had reportedly been found...well I should say, they found the car where the person had killed themselves. Living in the midwest, many people know it gets REALLY HOT in the summers and REALLY HUMID = Easy Bake Oven. Upon opening the door, the body had basically turned to liquid and spilled out of the door. I apologize for that story. But that is the "worst" story I have ever heard. ENJOY!

BTW, Often he would come home and you would ask him how his day went and he would respond with, "I have the smell of death still with me."

Ahhh, happy summer days. :cheesy:
