Now thats hot! Barefoot burns from asphalt?

Yep, I also had a heavy metallic thermos coffee mug for cars melt and sort of bubble out on the bottom. When I sit it down on the counter now, it wobbles around because the bottom is rounded from getting so hot in my car.

Dude...thers not humidity in Vegas...i love Vegas weather...ill stay outside cuz its not humid. Come to the other side of the US..and youll go crazy with humidity.
Dude, I know there is no humidity here. I just knew someone (you or someone else:grin:) would come back and say something about the humidity where they are. Believe me, I know what humidity is. I grew up in New Orleans and lived there until 5 years ago, so I know a bit about humidity and mosquitoes that can lift you off the ground.

I walked out to the end of my driveway barefoot this morning at 11am to get the paper and screamed all the way back into the house! They still hurt.

Go ahead - Call me an idiot.....

I spend most of the day in the lovely air conditioned college where lots of people buy hoodies because they keep is so cold. I also spend quite a bit of time in air conditioned public transportation. When I'm at home, though, its torture. My edit station is in one of the hottest rooms in the house. Grr. I could go to the basement where it is cool, but there isn't really any good place to set up my laptop.

Horse and other minnesotans will know what I'm talking about - today with the temps as hot as they are I woke up, no food or water all day - rode my bike from here (st.louis park) to minneapolis then to st. paul and then I got lost, and everybody was yelling at me like, "Dumbass ****ing kid get the hell off the street with that bike" blahblahblah and I got distracted and went straight into traffic (i was exhausted, no food or water) some people slammed on their brakes some guy started yelling at me so I just rode off Taxi Driver style.

So yah I think heat makes things more difficult... mentally, physically, emotionally

Edit:

Round trip was about 25-30 miles, not bad for 3 hours of riding - plus I stopped for a job interview as well as at a school for directions so I guess it would be more like 2 hours 15 minutes of riding

ha, I just got back from work...I live in hell...I mean South Florida...nestled between the 90 degree Atlantic Ocean and 130 degree Everglades swamp...100% humidity...It's so humid here it's like swimming through boiling water trying to make it to your car or house...little kids scream like cooked lobsters...
If I could guess how hot it was outside...I'd say...A bajillion degrees...
That's just a guess though...a bajillion might be too high...

Wanna hear a funny side story? I just started a new job and I'm training at another location...This location has a giant window on the ceiling...when I walked in, every person was noticeably tanner, sweatier, and miserable than my place! lol
I was like..."Boy it must suck to have this giant magnifying glass above you"...they all looked at me pissed...and went back to work...
Making friends already...

If it was me, I'd SO have one of those big patio table umbrellas mounted to my workstation.

I think I can top these stories, I work at a verizon Data facility in Pearl River, NY. ur Utility power(normal power that everything in a town runs on) went out due to the heat. Now imagine a data center going out, billions of dollars being lost per minute due to no power to run Verizon information systems. BIG BIG DEAL. Anyway how the system works is, if utility power goes out, within that split second our leihbert power goes on(a whole **** load of batteries strung together in the bsement level) the idea is for these batteries to be switched on within the millisecond that any utility power goes out so there is no power outage. These batteries only power the buildings for about 20min. This little grace period is suppose to give our massive 4,000 gallon disel fuel generators time to kick in and run the building on 6 enormous disel generators till the utility power comes back. well, long story short, batteries didnt work, the generators kicked in to little too late. billions of dollars were lost in that 10min time. generators came on, but then after about 5 hours 3/4 of the power it was creating was lost, and the building was completely out for about 2 hours. Well, Im on the 5th floor running around checking all different supervisory alarms and turning off as many AC units as possible(these AC uits are bigger then your car, and keep the computer servers running) trying to restore a somehwat blanced wattage load. The generator house is outside, a good walk from my building. No elevators worked. I had to run back and forth from the "Gen house"(has all the generators" back up the stairs, 5 floors to the main alarm and power panels to try and figure out what is going on

NO AC, ABOUT 22 TRIPS FROM GEN HOUSE TO 5th FLOOR, ALL HAPPENED TODAY, AT THE WORST TEMP - HUMIDITY COMBINATION OF THE SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but I feel great now cause I just got my camera dolly in the mail....=)

its really hot outside, but luckily theres a good breeze and the beach is close!
running along the sand/shoreline in sunny cali barefoot, cant beat it...
but damn the water is dirty! i just let it touch my feet...

keep cool folks!
t

Its kind of nice to have a lake at the bottom of the hill and a clear cool Ozark stream that emptys into it to take the grandkids to. If worse comes to worse there are a couple of caves nearby that stay cool all the time. Now if I could get out from under this AC and go do some of that stuff. Oh well I guess I'll just have to turn the 65" back to HDNET and watch "Get Out" with the babes in the hot bikinis. Life sure is tough.......
