Cowboy Studios Should Pad - Adding a hand grip?

I'm sure you could figure out a way to add a hand-grip to the standard rig, but I don't think it's necessary. The Cowboy is pretty damn sturdy on it's own, especially with a light DSLR setup like my T2i.

When you would need a hand-grip is if you were using a heavier camera / rig, and then I would think you would want the grip to be a closer to the front of the camera and not on the attach point, which is only about 7" from your chest.

Apparently, Gareth Edwards did suffer from some serious back problems while shooting Monsters, but he was also using an EX3 w/ a 35mm adapter, which is probably too heavy a rig for the Cowboy, which doesn't offer any option for counter-balance.

Last weekend I felt like working on something and I didn't want to have to wait for parts ordered online After walking around Walmart a bunch I found something that would make a suitable handle for the shoulder mount.

I took a handle off this ab wheel and ran a bolt down from the plate the camera is mounted to and then put it through the handle with some washers and tightened it on a with a nut. It seems pretty solid but I haven't had a chance to use it for shooting anything yet.

I gave the extra handle to a friend to use on his shoulder mount and now I have a couple wheels lying around.
