I don't know about your state but here we have Liberty Tax service where people dress in those exact costumes and wave at cars as they go by holding a sign as advertisements to get their taxes done there. There was a discussion on the citypaper forum about how no one notices those lost souls that wave at cars as they go by.

Well, I actually find the winning piece to be more memorable than The Charlie Factor.
At least it's different.
I didn't really connect to anything in The Charlie Factor, which just seemed to be an experiment in style.
Why is the judging so blind and hidden? Who judged and why?
. but it did actually demonstrate certain principles that are fundamental to the craft. (Tarkovsky, anyone?)
sorry, Richard. i'm right there with agcohn. i understand being disappointed, i'm sure you put a lot of work into your short. ok, so the winning piece isn't your thing. and it showed no where near the technical proficiency that yours did. but it did actually demonstrate certain principles that are fundamental to the craft. (Tarkovsky, anyone?) it's a vastly different aesthetic to yours... don't mean there's nothing there.
I'd say the Hipster pukes from hipsturbia were the judges!
You lost, the stars didn't align on your film. It happens. You move on and you don't take it personally. But come on people, grow up please. Think of the other filmmaker here who did, in fact, win. And stop acting like junior high bullies.
Wow. I normally don't post on matters like this, but I am shocked at how terrible everyone is being right now. You didn't win. Sure, it sucks. But things like this happen. You move on with life. The judges saw something in the winning film and deemed it a winner.
I feel terrible for the guy that shot the winning piece. He probably felt great when he won. Imagine if that was your film. You won. You're excited. You feel accomplished and worthwhile. And suddenly random people start bashing you technically, conceptually, literally on all stages. They tear you down to nothing. And it's junior high all over again.
He is a person just like you and I. And sometimes people forget that on the internet. What shocks me even more is that the moderators are letting this go on. What happened to a community of respect and not bashing others? Was there a rule change?
