Corrupted card, help needed please

Writing on behalf of a friend who has some corrupted footage, in case anyone can drop a pearl of wisdom.

Camera: FX3

Card: Lexar Professional 256GB (250 MB/s 1667x)

Reader: USB-C SD card reader (Platinum and also a tried a Vankyo)

Card wouldn’t mount originally, so they used Disk Utility to try to repair it.

Put it back in camera to see if it would play clips, no go.

Recorded a new test clip which worked.

Put it back in reader and this time it mounted, but was very slow to copy the files off the card and they are corrupted.

Suggestions?

If I was home, I’d send you one of the codes that comes with San Disk cards that gives you access to some recovery software. I’ll be back in-town late tomorrow. But my understanding is that SD cards are notoriously hard to recover files/footage from if something happens. And this doesn’t help your friend right now one bit, either, but I stopped buying Lexar media after the name was sold several years ago and bought by another company.

I have a lot of those San Disk recovery software offers. I've attached one. Hope your friend learned his lesson about recording to two sources. I believe the FX3 has two cards slots. It never pays to be cheap.

As long as other attempts at accessing the card haven't done any damage you may find useful info in a previous number of posts. I posted this back in 2020. Others found it helpful. The original link is at:

"I've lost count of the different recovery software solutions I've tried over the years. Spent crazy $$$'s on them. The only one I have found a consistent performer is EaseUS Data Recovery. It's found files on cards and drives that the PC hasn't even seen when connected. It has a selection button for "Can't find location." How it sees un-mountable drives, cards etc I don't know but somehow it seems to work. It has many recovery modes and options. It's slow but very thorough. Re recovery software prices not being cheap is a relative term IMHO. If it saves you mega $$$'s on a shoot and production EaseUS is worth every cent in my books. It's $69.00 a month or $100.00 for a year or $150.00 for lifetime upgrades. I ended up getting the "Technician" version as EaseUS proved itself to me. The Tech edition means it's a roving license and can be used on multiple PCs as often as required. A free trial is available for Mac. Maybe give it a go. If it finds all your files you will need to purchase one of the above time options to be able to recover those files. Good luck sir... know the feeling!

Disclaimer: I have no association with EasUS. I do like their product though."
