Corrupt Files Warning

Does anybody know a work around when FCP 5.01 gives the disheartening "cannot import files, one or more files may be corrupted"? I know they are there and good, I just want to work with them. Any thoughts? Thanks.

You shouldn't even have the P2 Import option if you are running 5.0.1.

And if you are running 5.1.2 you might have issues with "corrupt" files. Which i why I import with 5.1.1, not 5.1.2.

Buy a PC, the P2 errors are an APPLE ONLY problem and not a P2 problem.

I've offloaded hours of footage using only a PC and I've never lost as much as a single pixel.

If you use importing to FCP as your P2 offload method then your workflow is flawed. Copy the P2 card to your hard drive as data then import off your hard drive. Importing involves a file conversion and will be faster from the hard drive anyways.

First off, only the most recent version is causing people issues, and not everyone. I can import P2 all day long with FCP 5.1.1...not one error. And when you import you arent converting anything....you are transferring and putting it in a Quicktime wrapper so that FCP can understand it. Process takes as long as copying footage from drive to drive. ZERO quality loss. Not like the need for Raylight to get this to work with Premiere or Vegas.

So your "buy a PC" advice is a tad rash. Because then you not only have to buy a PC, but then buy all the software to run on that PC...learn it, buy additional hardware to output it to a format you need.

Forget that.
