correct workflow sequence

Just bought my HVX200 after reading these forums for several months, and thanks for all the helpful hints and advice available here.
There are so many threads about workflow which i think ive read them all, and because of doing my homework, my setup and workflow seem to work no problems at all.
I just wanted someone to check even though it appears to work, that im not doing anything stupid or face the risk of damaging anything.
My setup is basic, macpro, fcs2, fw800 drive, 2 internal media drives. hvx with 2 16gb cards.
I havent installed any drivers whatsoever as i believe i dont need to using a macpro.

workflow is as such,
shoot on hvx at dvcpro50 etc
after shoot turn write protect on cards

I leave fw cable connected to mac permanently.
Turn mac on
plug fw into cam
turn on cam
change to pc/dub mode.
both cards mount as 'no name' on desktop
create folder for each card on fw drive
copy contents and lastclip from each 'no name' drive to created folders
Unmount both 'no name' drives
turn off cam
unplug fw from cam

Using log and transfer in fcp locate each folder and transfer clips into fcp and onto intenal media drives.
When happy all clips working, reformat cards using the cam.

Sorry if this is a stupid post, but there is so many software/driver discussions and i wanted to make sure i wasnt missing anything.

Thanks

Ben

That looks like the basic workflow. I have two suggestions:

1. back up your MXF files to another drive for disaster recovery before you start ingesting, et al. I use an external drive.

2. get a pcmcia card reader for the MXF file xfer (Duel Systems).

...or better yet, get a PC laptop to dump your cards in the field using the pcmcia slot. The PC dump adds some steps, but it keeps your camera rolling.

Another step added is to get your files from the PC to your Mac. I usually copy the PC files to a USB drive (fat32 format) which is then copied into the Mac. I've also abbreviated this step by going directly out to the USB drive through the PC when I dump the P2.

The net result is that I keep the camera rolling and keep those expensive P2 cards working...not to mention keeping the shooter shooting and the actors acting...
