Pretty cool, Rook. More CC work would make this appeal more. And use other email address if you have one. With "someone@hotmail.com" or yahoo or such... people who are in "Industry" wouldn't take you seriously. I always say that don't matter as long as your work impress them but just letting you know so you can think about it too. And..

Is that Rachel McAdams at the very last shot? She sure looks alike. Nice job.

Wanderedby, Thanks.

I deinterlaced and CC the whole thing. I've been meaning to repost it but haven't yet.

The new CC look way better. Took me ages and the render was even longer.

As far as the email address goes...yeah I hear ya, hotmail doesn't scream "pofessional", but on the same hand I don't care. It's all I got so it is kind of a reflection of where I am at. I'm not trying to appear more than I am.

And ya, that's her. My first film had her in it. You're the first to recognize her.

Thanks for the feedback.

Peace.

throw on a matte widescreen filter b/c your ascpect ratio changes throughout the clip. Probably the difference between in-cam dvx letterbox and cropped 4:3 footage. Really cool stuff though and really liked the crane.

Filmismymedium, Thanks.

I know that the mattes are of different sizes but the projects we all in different aspect ratios. I didn't use a single aspect as It changed the framing and I am kinda picky about composition. I know it may be a little distracting. I worried about that, but in the end decide to make the trade off.

Slinks, yeah the song is great. Got lucky with it. Thanks for the feedback.

i searched through this but i havnt seen your answer on how you got the film roll thing at the beggining. did you find that? or did you make it yourself somehow? it looks awesome. please let me know what you did for that. thanks

Hey chris, the film roll thing. Just grab one of those cheap ass 2 dollar dvds you see at a walmart type store. I can't recommend walmart specifically because they are evil but any kind of cheap ass store will usually have them. Find the history films or life magazine dvds and there's all kinds of film roll out stuff. Then tint it, drop the opacity and lay it over clips.

But do it quick. I'm seeing this **** all over the place now and it's already feeling played out to me.

It must be awesome to know her. I really like her. I just can't imagine having her in my film. It will be the day my dream come true. ^^

Rook, check out mediatemple.com - they are an excellent host with great prices. It's only $5 a year for the first domain you buy from them. Complete email as well as hosting multiple unique web addresses (ie rook.com, mysweetfilm.com, etc) on a single account as well as sub-domains (demoreel.rook.com).
It may be more than you need in terms of options but you've taken the time to put together a demo reel so take an extra hour or so and complete the package. Trust me it's worth it!

RoamingBobert,

Thanks. Yeah that's a good idea the "@hotmail.com" thing really seems to cheese people off.

Have you used mediatemple? Their rates are right, just wondering how they have been with media files, speed and support? I'm a newbie to that side of things. can ya tell.

THX,

rook.
