Hi !
I'm starting a new thread since I'v seen anyone about the interlacing topic ... btw that's a little strange to me, as a director working for TV, there's no way to convince a broadcaster to air something filmed in Progressive mode with a lo or mid-range camera (or dslr), I think that you have to go to hi-end camera like a Red to have something viewable in P on a regular tv screen ... Or use in post an expensive magic box that will interpolate your footages ...
I film travel shows, mostely with monopods and Z7, and documentaries, with pana AJ 900 HD, a good HD shoulder cam ... so my shots are ... lively (sometimes lovely I hope !). This kind of shots in P are awfull, just ok if you go for a small piece like a music video. So I bought a 7D to get advantage of the 50P mode that should be convert to 50i with no loss. It seems to work great with AE ... I tried too to convert 25P to 50i using : 50% speed and pixel mover / export / reimport and 200% speed, the results are no so great, even if that allow me to fool some producer's eyes about shooting interlaced ...
Does anyone have some experience about that kind of cooking ??
(of course it should be the same process and drawbacks when going from 60p or 30p to ntsc 30i ...) .
Laurent
