C100: Convert C300 PL / C500 PL to EF mount using a C100

So I have recently purchased a Canon C500 PL, used of course, and for the past month I have been doing extensive test on it. After learning all the possibilities that it has to offer with the Odyssey 7Q+, I decided to find out how the camera works from a hardware prospective. So I essentially did a small camera teardown. The major thing that I found out almost immediately is that C500 and C300 share the exact same bayonet mounting port.

It seems that Canon in order to maximize profits created one bayonet mounting port and drilled and the necessary holes to mount either PL or EF, and from the looks of it the C100 may be outfitted with the same mount.

So I'm only speculating right now but it appears that if you owned a C300 EF and a C500 PL you could theoretically swap out the bayonets and convert your C500 PL to a C500 EF. Of course the down side would be that you would not have lens control since the PL version is not equip with a electronic lens control. But I was thinking more along the lines of using Canon's CN-E or modified Zeiss zfs with a manual iris.
Other concerns are that I'm aware that the flange depth could become an issue but with the help of shims I'm sure that it could be corrected. But anyways since the cameras have the same bayonet mount port, I figure the EF and shims that come with the C100/C300 should be fine.
I wouldn't recommend going PL mount to an EF mount on a C100/C300 since it would require the removal of the electronic lens control circuit sensor and if not done correct it could damage.

Since I don't own a C100 and haven't found a tore down one online I was wondering if someone would be willing to upload some photos to confirm that they do share the same bayonet port.

Lastly I really think Canon could have come up with an interchangeable mount for these cameras but they let profits get in the way of delivering a solid product. Instead of buying one camera they wanted you to buy two. But I guess they figured they had no option with the C300 mark II.

HI Leonel, I know this is an old post but did you ever find out if its basically the same mount? very intrigued about the prospect of putting some EF class on my C500 pl.

thanks for you post.

I'm very curious about this as well, is it possible you could take a broken C100 and use the mount from that on a C500 PL??

Well, the best point about the C500 EF mount and the PL mount is the locking outside ring! This ring was never on the C100 or the C300. With the outside ring you are sure of a wiggle free
connection with your Ef or PL mount lens..
