Convert 7D video file to Divx

Hello!

Has anyone successfully converted 7D video footage to Divx format in one shot? I tried using DivxConverter but it can't detect the audio track.

The convert converts the video exceptionally well. However when click "modify..." and on the "Media Options" tab, there is no audio track shown?! The output file thus has no audio at all.

I have filed a ticket with Divx support. Their reply:

Dear DivX User,

The file uses PCM audio. One thing about PCM audio, is that there are several types of it. We try to support as many types of PCM audio as possible, but sometimes issues like this can happen. One suggestion is to try converting with Dr. DivX:

labs.divx.com/drdivx

Regards,
DivX Support Team

I then tried Dr. Divx but it crashes(many times) during the conversion. Plus the UI just does not feel right, I have to specify the resolution by pixel counts, it does not list 1080 as a existing format.

Help please!

Note I just need to reduce the file size to upload to youtube or Vimeo. I don't need any processing/editing at all. I know video quality will be reduced as well.

Looking for a simple flow to reduce file size and keep reasonable quality. If Divx is not the tool, what would you use?

Use quicktime and convert it to H.264. Youtube and Vimeo will take that.

A more complicated solution is to use somthine like megui or staxrip (both free) which have a steep learning curve but the results are best in class and also compatible with youtube/vimeo.

Thanks. Can you elaborate how much file size will be reduced? I am looking for at least 1/4 of original size. Divx gives about 1/8 of original size, which is outstanding.

If no much reduction, then there is no point for all these exercises as Youtube/Vimeo can take the 7D video file directly.

Cool. I use QuickTime. It gives 1/5 file size while keeping pretty good video quality. Not bad.

One more questions, can QuickTime support batch mode, i.e. convert multiple files(one by one) in one operation? I don't want to keep opening one file and convert, wait 10 minutes and open another one.

Thanks a lot!

Sure you can open and export as many files in QT Player as you want. But Compressor is far more scriptable and batchable for this sort of repetitive task.

In QT, I can't see how multiple files can be opened and exported in one UI operation. Can you be more clear please?
