I have a handful of footage shot with a Canon T2i that I need to convert into 16:9 so there's continuity on the timeline with the footage shot with my DVX100. Is there a way to do this on the timeline?
The miniDV capture from the DVX100 uses the NTSC DV 3:2 pixel aspect ratio with anamorphic pixels to achieve widescreen. If you want to combine footage from the two cameras in the timeline, export out the DVX100 footage as ProRes or Apple Intermediate, or an I-frame codec of your choosing, so it will be 16:9 but with whole pixels and a 1:1 aspect ratio. Then import that footage, and it will work with the T2i footage.
Yes, wondering if saying he wanted to convert t2i To 16:9 was an error - sounds like he wants to convert the DV footage to "real" 16:9.
I've done this several times - keep in mind you have to enlarge the DVX shots significantly; the times I've done it, it's very very apparent. If you're doing it for web video, scaling the T2i footage down to SD before you edit will look much better than doing a 1080 edit with enlarged DV footage and thing bringing it all back down.
