The VariCam 35 and VariCam PURE output 4K as Quad-Link 3G-SDI. I believe the Odyssey doesn't accept this at frame rates other than 50p/60p.

Dear Derek,
We want to support HLG, we are not ready to do so, and I do not have a timeframe yet.
If you have an FS5 or FS700 and our Raw Bundle, then we support 2K in 100, 120 fps, 200 and 240 fps continuously.
There is also a cached mode for 4K Apple ProRes at 100 fps and 120 fps. (This is a limited time recording due to the way the camera handles these modes internally.)

I totally blanked that 120 at 2K is already there and I guess this new update doesn't add 4K 120 on the output. Look forward to the HLG update whenever it may be. Currently makes more sense to shoot 4K 10bit Slog2 on the 7Q and grade for HDR than shoot internal 8 bit HLG.

Just got the new newsletter about Firmware v2017.07 for CD's Odyssey/Apollo - but it looks exactly like the previous 2017.06 update?1? - Everything in the text, new features, etc looks the same - FREE Titan HD, DNxHD 60p and 2K/240 Raw from the Vari LT? Was this an error in the mail-out or....

Here is some information on our latest firmware release 2017.07.1713, and it combines into one the features that we added in June with the features and fixes that we just released.

I got my activation keys for the DNxHD and Titan upgrades, and I updated the July firmware as well. I can't figure out how to select DNxHD recording. My recording choices are only ProRes types. (I have an Apollo)

Dear Dave,
If you are using our 2017-07-1713 firmware, please select "Apollo Quad-HD DNXHD", instead of "Apollo Quad-HD
roRes under Monitor -->Record in our Setup Menu.

Well, I still can't figure it out!
Under "video codec" the only options are the 4 ProRes types. Is the menu a little different with the Apollo vs. Odyssey?

Sorry for late reply. Been off this forum for a while. Thanks to Dan & Mitch for answering my questions. Explanation seem plausible as I've only tried to connect at 23.976 (I think). I would think that compatibility with Standardized Baseband Video Signals in 4K & UHD should have benefits for more people than just users of Varicam Pure & 35, so hopefully something it's worth fixing for Convergent Design (if it's on their end...???)?

I will answer my own question here since it was not explained to me... with an Apollo you click on Menu / Setup / Master Camera / and then the bottom option is DNxHD. That's it.

I wonder will they have news at NAB?
It would be wonderful if it's to be supported. I'd hate to have to change out the Odyssey for an Atomos, as so much has been invested in it; and I've really gotten used to it's tools.
Even better would be an upgrade path to a newer monitor which could use existing SSDs and mounts. Perhaps a brighter one of over 1000 nits with the same features. Hint hint :laugh:
It would be great to keep the old FS700 going for another few years.
