Convergent design flash xdr

If you can't attach it to the camera, at least make a mount that can hang on a tripod or something. Just my $0.02. :)

Hi Mitch-
We actaually have lots of mounting options with the nanoFlash. On the bottom of the box is a 1/4-20 threaded insert (for tripod mount) as well as two threaded M3 holes. The top and side of the box each have two threaded M3 holes. So, we'll have lots of possible ways to connect mounting plates to the nano or to tie into existing plates. We should be able to easily mount to a tripod leg, for example.

Here's a CAD rendering of the box. The HDMI In and Out ports are just to the right of the BNCs (below the Hirose connectors). The two Hirose connectors are your power input and the remote control (start/stop, tally LED, RS-485 and LTC).

We are building the prototype box and boards this week.

Lookin' forward to it... and I'm lookin' forward to driving out there and using a demo for an hour or so to see what kind of difference it makes. This could be my salvation!

Hi Buck-
I have some great demo footage which I can send on a DVD. We have the QT version available now and could create an MXF version in few days. Send a message to sales at convergent-design.com, if you want a copy.

I hope the flash + my EX1 can take my mind off the HPX300.

Hi Bokes-
Everyone seems very pleased with the video quality on the Flash XDR. The nanoFlash will produce the exact same video quality as we use the Sony MPEG2 CODEC for both products.

We have a Thomson Viper ($130K camera) user who plans to use the Flash XDR for an upcoming film. He thinks the XDR is perfect for all TV programs and for all films up to about a $5M budget. Yes, uncompressed 4:4:4 is better, but it's hard to beat the portability and operating cost of the Flash XDR / nanoFlash.
