GH2 Considering huge switch to GH2. Interested in opinions.

Allow me to present an alternate point of view on camera tools.

The job of a creative tool is neither to create content nor an effect, but to remove the barriers between the creator and their vision. If every creator has the same tools, same budget, skill and access then the differentiating factor between them is their vision.

The worst thing a tool can do is limit your creativity. The best ones do it far less.

Would I rather be trying to get work based on my vision or based on my tools? :)

@stoneinpond Of course, but I meant "which would I rather have be the limiting/differentiating factor"?

There's no way I'm going to be the only person on earth with a camera of a given quality, so if that's going to be the differentiating factor then I become a commodity. Minds are infinitely varied by comparison. :)

Great Post and in Many many ways, Money is one of the only factors that limits most creative artist, therefore we have to invest to show we can so we can then get them budgets..... Very hard to do but excellent message that I agree with.

I don't know, maybe I'm the only one worrying about wide lenses on this thing - would love to hear how people feel about this.

You need to cover s-16mm sensor, so you could use something like a Zeiss 9.5 mm T 1.2 S-16 lens on the wide side but that one isn't cheap. There are Kern Switar lenses out there. Lots of other stuff. Even the Kinoptik Tegea 5.7 mm ... this one is really extreme... ;-)

Yes - on the wide side you have some problems here. But the real problem is anyhow that the smaller the sensor the wider the lenses you use may tend to be and this - maybe - is aesthetically a problem. If something like 20 mm is your new "normal" in S-16mm and you shoot a portrait.... maybe not too nice what it does to a face.

It's a decision to go for that aesthetic concept. A lot of great films have been shot on S-16 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Films_shot_in_Super_16 so it can be done. What is really fascinating with the "Pocket" is that it is so small. Half way between GoPro and a grown up camera and it may have the real muscle of 13 stops DR. I think it's really interesting. Especially for doc-style shooting.

BM Pocket cam footage:

I'm not seeing anything special, but I suppose it's not fair to judge it by one video.
