GH5 Considering GH5 a Few Questions

Hello,

I am eyeing the GH5 over the A7III as I am an Olympus shooter and need better video. How does Olympus glass do on the GH5 any issues I need to be aware of?
Can you record HLG to the internal SD card on the GH5? and if so what frame rates and resolutions? Can you manual focus at 120fps? I know you can't auto focus
but I hope you can manual focus while shooting. Thanks all

The main difference that I see is that the Sony's have a true 120fps mode where the GH5 gives you 120fps as an overcrank of a different frame rate. This means no audio during recording. I wish the GH5 had the true 120fos mode.

I have the Oly 12-40 f2.8 and it works great. HLG is available for all of the recording resolutions and frame rates if I remember correctly.

I have the 12-50 power zoom and it works fine on my GH5 and the GH5S. HLG for Panasonic is only in 10bit so is available for those 10bit formats internally. If you want UHD60P HLG then it has to be to an external recorder like the Atomos.

Thanks Vardolos!

Thanks Vardolos!

If your considering a GH5 or GH5s theres a site I think you need to know about, it has a whole bunch of instructional videos on how to use specialized features of the camera. This is it and look for the link to Features & Functions Training Videos. http://eng-ca.faq.panasonic.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/43117/~/lumix-dc-gh5-training-guide

Thanks for the tip on the website. I bought a GH5 in May, and although I’m a GH3/4 veteran, this site is quite helpful. Thanks man!

I have the Olympus 60mm macro and 75-300 zoom and they work great on my GH5. Have my eye on the 12-40 2.8 Olympus lens. Rented it and it works great.

All Olympus glass I've used works great. No reason it wouldn't.

You will NOT get dual IS like you will with Pana or Pana Leica glass. But... the IBIS still does a very good job (even my olympus 75mm stays stable for me on handheld video).

I have the Olympus pro 25mm 1.2 and 45mm 1.2 and they both work and look great. AF is good. Like has been said, the only lacking thing is Dual IS. Holding our hope it could be added.

I like Olympus because they have good manual focus unlike Panasonic. They also tend to look a bit more organic.

Yes, but the only Oly lens with true manual focus is the 14-35 f/2.0 Four Thirds Zoom, the rest are still focus by wire, but have a manual focus feel with stops, which is nice. The Panny Leica series also have a very responsive focus ring that is almost like a manual focus, but lacks the stops at the end.
Cheers

Yes I love my Olympus Glass, I am deciding on when to pull the trigger as I don't have to be in a rush. Still pondering the A7 III as well some.
