conrad_johnson Girl Next Door

This is definitely one of the best films in the fest - it's got everything. The writing, acting, the sound, editing, and cinematography are all top notch. It's one of the only films where every element was done really well.

It's really the only film that pulled me into the world of the character enough that I wasn't scrutinizing every little detail. I feel like you really have a strong command of the genre. You used all of the horror conventions very effectively without making me feel like I've seen this exact movie before.

You have the audience going just far enough in the direction of thinking this is just a typical cookie-cutter horror before you change directions. It's great.

You also managed to make it funny and very scary at the same time, which seems really hard to do. That moment where the pale guy crawls over the girl and you've got that weird sound is thoroughly scary.

Anyways, great work.

Also, do you have a link to There Goes the Neighborhood? I never got to see it. Thanks.

The cinematography on this is very good. I LOVE the glowy look. LOVE IT!!!!!!

Plus the images of the guys wit hrope on their faces was nice and creepy.... :)

I think this looked great.
And I think there was some really great and original imagery here.
I just have zero idea what was going on.
SPOILER ALERT
I laughed when she called her BF because these things were all over rather than getting the hell out of the house, but then thought that was ok when I learned we were in a dream ... I think ... and then had no idea by the end.

but very creepy and well put together

but what are the spaghetti faced guys?
and who's the bum woman on the bed.

Wait ... are those her victims?

Why's she calling her boyfriend over to protect her

Wait ... is she luring him over to kill him?

OHHHHHH!

But wait I though the string face men were supernatural gouhls or something

I think they were so creepy I thought they were demons, and that's where I got lost.

If they wer demons then of course ot would confuse the idea of her being a killer significantly.
...

I have to watch again now.

I also felt like yours was one of the only that felt like real filmmaking skills went into it.

Thanks, that's bailing twine.:zombie_smiley:

Acting: Lead was good, wanted her more scared though, just being picky.
Script: Interesting, nice twist. But what happened to the link with the beginning?
Direction: Some really nice ideas going on here, does the Director work on music videos by any chance?
Music: Music was good, not really a fan of ADR.
Editing: A little too fast in places, like the kitchen scene, wanted you to stay longer on some shots. It really settled down further into the piece and flowed.
Lighting: Really solid and bright throughout. Nice look you achieved here.
Loved: The beginning, the crawling guy, the door bashing! The low angle shot when she fell, the fact it was a dream.
Hated: The girls scream, spade musical stabs, also the fact that his head would be all over that floor with that force. :)
Overall: A well rounded piece, I think with a solid script you guys will produce something amazing. Good job.:dankk2:

PLEASE REVIEW 'BROKEN CIRLCE' (THANKS)

really liked this film thought it looked good throughout. was creeped out when that dude got on top of her i'm like ewwwwww. I loved the I must strip to my underwear part, cuz horror movies should have the scantly clad IMO (clasic) :) the ending wasn't my cup of tea but hey it's flippin horrorfest :)

Hey Conrad! CONGRATULATIONS on your film! GREAT!!!

I loved it!

Good luck and best to you.

This has been great fun!

This film started off real good. Kind of reminded me of the opening bit of a CSI episode. Well shot and lit.

I'm not the biggest fan of "it was only a dream, or was it?" stories but I guess it worked all right for the genre. The actress seemed a bit too nonchalant. I understand that the twist at the end may explain her odd behavior within the dream, but it's either bland or confusing.

I like this one. I hope you guys continue to make more stuff.

This was interesting. The pre-credits intro was well-done. Music for it fit. The acting during the phone convo with the boyfriend didn't really work for me. I like how she's watching the Christian channel before the attack. Interesting touch.
This seemed to want to be more of a comedy. I wish it tilted more in that direction and went all the way.

Story was kinda simple. I think the ending could have been a bit more clever.

Good show.

I liked it. The only thing that was kinda funny though was how the actress seemed to move her neck in a wobbly unstable way. especially when she runs. That made me laughed. But all in all I liked it.

Good Luck:thumbup:

wobbly unstable way. that's funny.

Yeah, we have been calling her the bobble head girl. "You know, the one with the bobble head"
If I haven't said it before, I really loved the lighting in this movie.
