Connecting HVX to PC??

Hi to everyone,

I'm sorry to appear so thick, but a friend and I have just recently invested in the HVX and the HP xw8400. My question is: How do I transfer footage recorded onto MiniDV from the HVX to the workstation? I have read the user guide various times (pages 77-88) but I still don't understand what type of cable I need to use.
Do I use USB? 1394? or the component video cable that came with the camera?

I really would be most grateful if somebody out there could help me! I haven't actually tried to connect the camera to the PC yet, as I would like to be sure of what it is I'm doing before I attempt anything.

My guess is that if you are capturing to a NLE on a PC, you would use FW out of the cam for miniDV.

Which NLE are you using on the PC?

If you used tape, treat the HVX like any other MiniDV camcorder and transfer using a Firewire cable. Set the PC MODE to 1394DEVICE in the OTHER FUNCTIONS menu.

You could also use any cheap MiniDV camcorder as your deck.
Though capturing one tape from your HVX isn't going to kill the heads - why put more miles on them than you have to?

Thank you also. I will definately keep that in mind.
