Connecting HMC150 to Mac?

I am probably being slow here, but can't work out how to connect my HMC 150 to my MacBook Pro, to work with the framebyframe stop motio ap. (In effect, it takes a screenshot of the live video whenever you press click, and then puts all those shots into a sequence)

I have no problem doing this with an old consumer dv cam I own, but when I connected with USB, the HMC150 told me to disconnect it.

Any help much appreciated!
 
Hmm.. more research suggests that I can't convert put my HDMI into a USB or Firewire port... which leaves me wondering if there is any way to do this at all with a MacBook Pro. (it does not have an HDMI input) I have seen some peopel talk about Matrox MXO2, but I don't want to spend that kind of money.
