Congrats to JDS

So, when are we gonna see the JDS/Barry Green UserFilm thread? If you guys wait much longer, you'll be shooting on the RED. Or maybe that is the plan? :)

Do that with the next one.

Really though, I hope you guys are moving along ok with the project, as I am anxious to follow the process.

God I'm so embarassed I just posted this in the wrong thread and deleted it...the Katrina thread -- a wonderful thread don't get me wrong...jesus.

doesn't look like this thread has gone too stale -- I haven't been to dvxuser in a while, but Mr. Stanley and Mr. Green, what you're doing sounds damned great, I hope the collaboration works out really well. I'd be interested to hear how the idea exchange tends to take place.

But does this mean no three-peat with drama?? I was hoping to man our thread alongside a two-time champeen! I say your record ain't squat til you've done at least...seven different genres.

(and if timur civan asks...his poster IS amazing.)
As for the exchange not much to report right now, just passing scripts back and forth.

As for the threepeat, I can't deny that I feel the call of the fest, but I've had my share of fun for a while :)

We're progressing ok. The finding a script / script development stage can be slow and methodical and directly relates to when you see a UserFilm thread for us.

Basically when we have a script that we are sure we are taking to production, then you will see a UserFilm thread from us. No guarantee, but could be by the New Year.

Thanks for the continued interest guys.

Hey Jack... where are you planning on shooting the film? In New York or where Barry is (North Carolina, correct?) - or ? Let me know if you're going to be auditioning actors in the Los Angeles area. I'd love to come audition! :)

We were just discussing that today.

N.C. is a strong possibility but it could be anywhere.

If there's auditions in your area then you're on. But follow what we are up to and remind us you're interested if it turns out we are gonna be out there. I'll probably forget to follow up on my end, since that'll be a ways away and my brain is the size of a peanut.

Thanks for the interest

Hey Jack, you got it...

I'm subscribing to this thread... and regardless of who's cast, I know the project will be great. Look who's helming it... :)

You don't want to have auditions in Troy, AL? :)

Any clues on the genre you're planning on shooting?

Jason

In dream world we'd be wrapped and shopping it in six months.

I think that's about as fast as it could happen.

Right now we are in a valuable but painstaking development process.

Once we get over that hurdle things can run on a set schedule (or so it seems to me) until we get to casting, and then again things may slow while we get it "just right".

As the experience producer Barry might know better, but it seems like the picking and developing the script takes as long as it takes, but then you hire technical and creative personnel based on their body of work for the work you want them to do, we're talking DP, Art Director, etc. But then once you get to casting again you have to take as long as it takes (within reason of course)

So we are couple of stages more away from setting a shooting date I think.

stages! stages! ... we dont need no stinking stages! hey congrats jack. i know you guys are going to put together a great picture. lookng forward to watching it in the future. :)

Casting is, arguably, the most important aspect of having a good finished product. I learned this the hard way with the short that I did (which was meant to compete in Horrorfest.) It was hard to direct because of the cast. But you have to learn that lesson somehow, I suppose...

Puh... I just clicked JDS's banner in his signature and after browsing his website I ended up here reading the 10 pages of this thread.

Holy cow. o_O

First of all: Congratulations JDS. Probably a little bit late :D

So I reached the end of this thread and found a situation where somebody ripped out the last bages of a good book. Obviously not satisfying :p

What happend to the project? This thread just died before Christmas last year. Is there a new thread? A thread about that project?

Best wishes
Simon

SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT.

That's what we've been up to. On one hand somewhat intensely, and on the other hand somewhat sporadicly as we have various other projects on the burner - projects that we like a great deal and that pay the rent, but I think for both of us, our hearts are very much in this thing ... even as slowly as it's coming along :)

Lemme check with Barry on something and maybe your post will be the impetus for a big update.

And thanks for the interest Simon.

We are loving life here in our own little development hell. See, this happens when you get a producer involved who wants to make the project "better" (but seriously, I think it's getting lots better!) :)
