I'm cutting a project in FCP, an NLE I'm not familiar with at all. I'm having truble with my project and sequence settings. Unfortunately, the footage was shot 1080i 24p (not advanced), and it's looking choppy and interlaced. What project settings should I be using?

J'suis confused.

you should be able to use Cinema Tools, installed app in applications folder, to get rid of the interlacing and convert the footage to true 24p footage. Then in FCP you should be able to drop it in a 1080 24p sequence.

ive done it this way before with 1080i 24p (not advanced) footage before when i made the same mistake.

Just choose a DCPROHD 1080p24 sequence and you should be fine. It sounds like your hard drive is not up to the task of playing back that high of resolution. Firewire 400 cannot handle 1080p24...you need at least a FW800, or SECONDARY internal SATA drive, or external SATA RAID.

Where is your media stored now?
