Very informative interview, so you'll probably want to watch the whole thing. But skip to 9:33 to hear the Panasonic guy say that you don't need the YAGH Interface to get 4K 10bit 4:2:2 out of the GH4's Micro HDMI port. Now somebody just needs to create an external recorder that can capture 4K 10bit 4:2:2 via HDMI! :cheesy:

Also, there's some really nice footage in there taken with the GH4 straight to SD card.

8-bit padded to 10-bit or......
Well, I believe it would have to be true 10-bit because that's the same signal that's sent into the YAGH Interface, and that is 10-bit. And the guy does say "you can get full 10-bit, 4:2:2 4K right out of the HDMI port in this camera." I take that to mean that it's not 8-bit padded up to 10-bit.

Now people will ***** there is no rocket launcher function.

Well...I like rocket launchers.

Actually, I'm interested in that Zacuto hand grip with a power zoom that was mentioned at around 4:00. That would be very handy, no pun intended.

This is a real game-changer. Come NAB and the announcement of the widely-assumed Atomos recorder, people are going to flip. How far we've come in just a few years totally amazes me.

sooo glad I just sold my 5D 3. The one thing that always got me with it, was the weight, if I wasn't working it stayed put at home. I think this will go pretty much every where with me!!

I'll be holding on to my 5DmkIII for a client that likes all their stuff shot with it. The weight of their $70K a year far outweighs the weight of the camera. :)

I get what your saying, and I could be wrong but I think your client will be just as happy when you would use the gh4,
I think it's mostly your communication skills combined with your camera handling and editing that makes the clients come back to you, not the 5d.

No, we also have an Epic, and they specifically want to use the 5DmkIII. They are why we purchased that camera.

Don't get me wrong I love what it does, but it's not my primary and to have one that does some really great video in a package that I can have with me (because of weight and size) pretty much all the time is a BIG plus for me. I would ONLY carry the 5D and lenses if I was getting paid for it. BTW if you need a 70-200 2.8 IS II hit me with a PM.

Fair enough, the clients pays the jobs after all so they should be listened to.
Would they be happy with the Canon 1Dc?

Or is 5D the only one they would want.
I Guess what I'm trying to find out is if the client is after a certain look which could be created with the 1dc for example.
Or is the request based on what they know will work and don't want to risk trying something else.

I have access to any camera available, they are just stuck in their ways, which is fine.

Plus it takes great stills!
