Anyone know a good article or how I could go about calibrating my computer monitor so that my footage looks exactly as it will on TV? I don't have the cash for a pro video monitor right now. Thanks!

That's gonna be tough...every TV is setup differently by its user. I have my computer monitors calibrated using Adobe gamma and the video looks nothing like it does on my TV. It's always way darker on comuter monitor

You won't get it work like that. Computer monitors and TVs are different beasts. Computer monitors have much higher resolution and handles many, many more colors. This is why you need an NTSC monitor for advanced editing work.

How come DVRack can do it, then? Can we at least simulate the NTSC look? If they can do it... ???

Do a search online for this issue and tons of articles come up. Also, check the OCEANSIDE thread in FRAME GRABS as I just learned this recently (My wrk monitor was so damn bright that on my wifes computer everything was to dark).
You need to use COLOR BARS from your NLE to do this trick. It an issue of contrats and brightness and color.

You can simulate brightness, contrast, black levels, etc., but the fact remains that the resolution and color space of a computer monitor are far superior to a TV’s. Colors will not all look the same (you’ll find that some colors which look fine on the computer look terrible – or vibrational – on a TV), and you may run into problems with fine detail in text, etc., which are too fine to be seen on a TV.
I’m not sure what DV Rack does, but it’s a software-based solution. You can’t simply use the controls on the monitor itself to calibrate it to a full-on accurate rendition of a TV.
