Has anybody experiences with modifying this lens for the GH2 crop? Is it possible to make this lens fit to a m 4/3 adapter? Some special advices? Is the lens itself a usable lens sharp with good contrast by iris 1.2 ?
I have the Fujinon version. It's possible to modify it but you need to really know what you're doing or send it to a professional lens engineer. Usually it's a case of filing down or extending the rear mount to achieve infinity focus at wider angles.
I just looked at mine, but I don't have a caliper here for measuring it exactly. I think i depends on what value you assign to the lens and how precise you need it. The easiest way would be to remove the back retaining ring, take out the silver c-mount piece, and use a file, aDremel or whatever you feel comfortable with and -carefully- file the edge that keeps it from fitting into a standard adapter to a 45* angle. The best (= widest inner ring) adapter I have found is the C5 from Hawk on ebay. This doesn't have to look nice because you won't see it. A more radical step - and this is where the (resale-) value comes in: you can remove the c-mount completely and just epoxy a m4/3 adapter to the back of the lens. You would want to come as close as possible to the exact distance you need, but if you can live with the lens focusing beyond infinity, you have a little wiggle room. Not yet sure what I will do, I have a few others so I may just sell mine...
