Compression Question

This is perhaps slightly off topic, but one thing that I remember bothering me last fest is that I couldn't export to h.264 without getting a very "washed-out" video. This seems to be a pretty well-documented problem throughout various forums, but the exact solutions seems elusive. Is anyone here familiar with this problem? Better yet, does anyone have a good solution?

This happens when you watch the output in QT right?

Open QT then select preferences. In the next window at the bottom of the list you will see "Enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility". Make sure its checked.
