All of the freshDV links don't work for me. I got to the website but none of the .html files are display. I tried clicking on the menu but nothing works.

Okay, it's working now. It certainly takes a long time though to load.

Thanks for posting those information. I'm certainly to look over.

Unfortunately the resolution testing methodology is fumndementally flawed. The interlaced 1080i60 shooting mode is compared with the progressive scan 720p shooting mode and it is assumed by all camcorder reviewers that since the interlaced 1080i format has the highest resolution under static test charts that 1080i must be superior than 720p. What the reviewers ignore is that video is all about motion and the simple fact is that under motion the 720p60 format will outresolve 1080i60 to such a high degree as to render all interlaced formats obsolete. Yet interlace video refuses to die because it boasts higher resolution numbers.

Adam Wilt solved the motion resolution measurement problem simply by wobbling the camera while shooting the resolution chart.

FreshDV's "methodology" for this test was simply to post charts and let people make their own observations. As you are drawing your own right now.

This comment is a little unfair IMHO. We posted static resolution charts shot in every mode the EX1 offers. That's all. This wasn't a "720p vs 1080i" test, this was a "What the EX1 does with static rez charts" test. Again, draw your own conclusions.

What the reviewers ignore is that video is all about motion and the simple fact is that under motion the 720p60 format will outresolve 1080i60 to such a high degree as to render all interlaced formats obsolete.
If you read the comments on that resolution link you'll note that I have already mentioned a forthcoming motion resolution chart test, again shot in all the formats the EX1 offers. We haven't released it yet for lack of time, but will soon. You could say "What the poster ignored is that his question has already been asked and will be answered shortly." :-)

Yet interlace video refuses to die because it boasts higher resolution numbers.
I think that interlace video refuses to die for a lot of reasons, apparently-higher resolution numbers not being the biggest factor. That's just my opinion of course. Thanks for the comments.

thank you for listing the above links.

it makes researching the various web comments about the ex1 a bit easier to find.

first comes the web comments, then i need to get the camera in my hands. for me, ergonomics plays a huge part in whether i would purchase any camera.

ymmv

be well
