The A1 manual says the component output in HD (letterbox off) is quote "D3 (1440X1080)". I can't seem to find anywhere any information on what "D3" is in this context (unless it is the same format as the composite digital D3 tape format?). I can find a heap of discussions on whether the component is pre-hdv or post-hdv compression etc., but I'm surprised I can't find any discussing this "D3".
