Component and Composite / S-Video output at same time?

Well i just found out we cant send a composite signal out of the HVX while sending a component signal out.

Will the HVX send an S-Video signal and a component signal out at the same time?

other theoryies dont work.

Is there a solution to this problem:

I have an onboard monitor that only supports Composite, and also have an HD field monitor that supports component. Anyway at all to run both at the same time?

You'll need an analog downconverter to downconvert the HD-compoent to Composite (You'll need to either loop through your field monitor or split the compoenet at the camera.)

If you are handy with a soldering iron you can quickly split off a new signal from the component cable if you can't afford a proper convertor. A quick google search, and you can find the instructions how to get 'er done.

But the problem is that since the HVX must be sending out an HD signal, will soldering trick be able to give out the signal to the composite/SD only monitor?

Good question...

Since you are only looking for an additional composite signal, the quickest way to non-destructively test it out would be to see if you can get a picture from one of the single connections off the Y Pb Pr split on the end of the component cable.

And further to that if you are successful, instead of splicing the cable you could run a T connector and split off the signal that way without butchering your cable.

That was the first thing i tried TAKE_1. It works, but only if the HVX is set to 480i output. If its set to an HD output, the onboard monitor only shows static like your avatar :P

*LOL*

Well I guess we have our answer then... looks like the only solution would be a downconverter with multiple outputs. Its been awhile, but I know Miranda used to make such tools. No idea as to the cost anymore though...

Note that this is not just conversion from Component to Composite, but a DOWNCONVERSION from HS to SD. It is goign to require active equipment (that re-scales the video to a lower SD resolution)
