Complete Glidecam V-8 Camera Stabilization System

Has anyone had experiance with this. I might be able to pick one up cheap. Is it any good?

Thanks

I used the Glidecam V8 with a DVX100 when shooting my movie. Loved it. It took several days of playing with it in order to really get the hang of it, but once I did, it worked wonderfully. If you want to see sample footage shot with it, check out the movie in my signature. The trailer has a couple of Glidecam V8 shots in it, and if you rent or buy the movie you'll see tons of other shots in there.

One thing, though: The thing is heavy. Certainly much more comfortable to use than the handheld stabilizers, but after a full day of Glidecam V8 use, your back will feel it, even with a camera as light as the HMC150.

crap... i looked and looked and didn't find anything, I found some good deals on V16 but not V8. It feels the same as when people have inside jokes among them =(

I bought the full setup for $1300 on eBay in February. It is great and since the HMC is so light the V-8 can fly it with a 35mm adapter and wireless follow focus.

I picked-up the Glidecam X-10 and love it...but like stated before, you WILL feel it in your back after the first hour. Just take breaks.

Went and looked at it. Beat up with duck tape. Dude that thing is a beast! You could float a SUV with it. Way to heavy for me.

Lol, what other systems are lighter and better? (for a reasonable price)

Thats a very good deal at $600... I really wanted the one on ebay!

Could you be more specific? How long do you think you could shoot without taking a break?

I mean it cant be that heavy for a 180lb 6' guy that's pretty athletic... right ?

The whole thing looked to be around 60 pounds. When I just held the glide cam part with no weights.. Then saw all these heavy tubes and that looked as think as a bar on a bench press... Looked just agreavating to me. And to be honest the guys was a chain smoker....and I could not freaken breath in there. I was expecting aluminum and this stuff looked like steel in a weight set in a gym.

The Glidecam V8 is definitley heavy. It's the only stabilizer I've used that has a vest and dual arm, so I can't compare it to anything else out there. But I'd say (without weighing it) it's somewhere in the 40 pound range.
