compact flash card help.

I need a higher size of a compact flash but I dont know about all the speeds and whats good or bad.. this seems like a really good deal, but the price seems too good. what do you guys think of this card for video? I have to shoot a wedding this saturday and i just dont want any mistakes

I have two Kingston elite pro 32GB CF cards and one 16GB CF card with the 5D Mark II. They worked for several months from June 2009, but around November-December of 2009 (and random times going forward), I started getting dropouts or buffer errors. This occured well before the 2.0.7 firmware 5D update in February 2010, which matched the 44mbit/sec bitrate of the 7D.

Since then, I bought a Transcend 64GB 400x card, and no dropouts whatsoever on the 5D Mark II.

ha yeah sorry about that. I looked at taht one too. it just looked abit generic and didnt know if I could trust that one either

Multiple 8gb cards are a lot better than one massive card for several reasons.

1. If you lose on big card with all your footage on you in a mess, whereas if you lose an 8gb card it isn't as bad.

2. OVERHEATING, I have typed this out too much. The bigger the card, the more prone it is to over heating, which can delete EVERYTHING on the card.

I am looking into these cards as well. Could someone please help me understand the differences...Namely...why is there such a huge price difference online between B & H and Best Buy?

Example:
Best Buy 16 gig extreme card

B & H

Am I missing something?

Also, is the card speed just an indicator of how fast data can be written and retrieved?

I don't buy ANYTHING from Best Buy. I'm sure I can find it else where for cheaper. Like someone stated before, I shoot with 8 gig cards. No over heating issues and I can buy quite a few of them. I record, dump, replace. Nothing hurts worse than losing 16 or 64 gigs worth if info. Walmart on line, Target online, Amazon, Ritz camera online, and check out a site called cheesycam.com The best deals on ANYTHING DSLR related will be posted on there! Good luck and happy shooting.

@OP

Are you only shooting video in this wedding? If so, you do not need a card above 133x. Video does not require anywhere near the card speed to process as Gatling gun photos do. Legitimate 8 GB 133x cards can be had very cheaply.

honestly i dont knwo alot about this stuff...but one thing is for sure...i dont want to take ANY chance with my footage. (weddings in ur case are even worse). So i just bit the bullet and got http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EZ0K82/ref=oss_product

it may be overkill...but i can live with that. what i cant live with is lost footage. I havent had one issue with these. And yes multiple 16 gb is better than one 32. And hey...if i wanna make use of my gatlin gun of a camera..this card can handle it :)

Don't skim on cheap cards. Don't buy them too big. You'll put all your eggs in one basket and chance loosing all. I am more than happy with

Scan Disk Extreme
60MB/s 32GB
