Starting a new thread on Coming Correct because all the many changes from the title al the way to the structure. If you want to look up the old information for the making of the movie check out the VOICES thread Here. Thanks to everyone who's been keeping up with this thread. I'll also no longer be keeping up with the Voices Thread.

Trailer:

ReCap:

Specs: Shot over approx 45 Days which lasted from Late Nov 2007 to July 2009. Shot HD and with the Letus35 adapter. $4K worth of lighting equipment, pretty good audio equipment. Cast Approx 35 people. The original shoot was about 25-28 days but we extended and reworked the whole movie over an additional 10+ days to end up with what we have now. Which I'm pretty happy about.

Major Cast: Miko DeFoor, Dawn Michele, Shaun Mixon, Kanya Maree, Tyler Craig, Kaira Akita, Victor Jones, Darnell Thibodeaux, Stan Lackey, Tabitha Stallings, Justin Milburn, Ivan Mbackop

Upgraded Named Cast: Tommy Ford, Carl Payne, Nephew Tommy, Angie Stone, Rodney Perry, Shawty with Terri J. Vaughn

Upgraded Cast Shoot: Approx 10 Days which lasted from July 2011 to November 2011 with 3 extra days in February 2012

Crew:
Producer: Tommy Ford
Director/Producer/Lighting: Me
DP/Editor: Jay Williams
Asst Producer: Vonetta H. Jackson
Audio: Ramy Kebbe / Robert Ferrell
Writen By: Nedra Simone and Me
Based on Stage Play by Nedra Simone.

The movie is now 99.9% complete. I don't like ever saying 100% because there's always some nitpicky thing you can find that you want to change. So it's 100% complete when it's sold.

The movie has been sold. It's been renamed to "Baby's Mama club" by Lionsgate and you can check it out by purchase or viewing via Amazon.

Glad I got to check this out the other day. Can't wait to finish seeing it. Sorry I had to break out without seeing the whole thing.

Good luck at the San Diego Festival! And I guess I'll start following this thread now.

Thanks for coming by though and watching a piece of the feature. I told you we were trying to ramp up for 2010. I figure we'll at least do one feature this year, maybe two.

I'm super excited about what you and Jay might do with R&R. So I'm looking for that too. A friend of mine told me about some investors, and he said he'll do a small pitch to them next week to see if they are interested. So let's keep our fingers crossed.

I posted also in the other thread. But if you need some Post Sound Help feel free to reach out to me.

Nice work. The video quality is really great. Hard to find these days. I'm a big audio person so I pay close attention to sound. Its a few things here and there but over all its pretty good. Did you do any ADR? Let's stay in touch. I'm in the Atlanta area as well.

We did a little ADR, but very little ADR is in the trailer. We were able to get good levels over 90% of the time from the regular audio stream. We hope to start a new project very soon - as soon as the Spring. So definately keep in touch, our last audio guy won't be able to help us next time around.

I want to beef up the Sound Mix for the next project. The Sound Mix and audio for Coming Correct is pretty good. I'd say a bit better than the average indie film. But I want it to be 3x better next go round. I believe in constantly getting better and pushing yourself to the limits. Our hope through this project was to attract more people, so you're more than welcome to join us for future projects.

ok... this looks very very good!

Thanks Estebeverde! Thanks for watching. I'm glad you liked it.

Ok cool will definitely do. Yeah I can tell when someone uses ADR or not. It sounds really good compared to most indie projects I see as you said. I will stay in touch with you to see how things are going. I see you going places regardless so stay at it and good luck.

I liked the trailer and I'm really looking foward to seeing the feature when you release it. Good luck with the festivals and the search for distribution.

Thanks Brad. We'll be out at the festival in San Diego next week. So it'll be the first time a "real audience" has seen Coming Correct. It'll be an expeirence.

Count Down to San Diego. It'll be interesting to see the movie on the big screen. I'm a little concerned because the projection is DigiBeta (720x480) and not Blu-ray(1920x1080). Oh well, life goes on. We're getting some flyers printed up now and plan to get a few portable DVD players outfitted to run the movie all the time. We'll just wear them on our chests as we go through the fest. If anyone has other ideas, feel free to chime in. Couldn't get access to much because I'm not familiar with this festival - my first time going out of town for any fest. Stay tuned

Definitely try to test ahead of screening. Their tech guy is a good guy but we didn't get to see a test ahead of time...at least it's not Beta SP like ours screened in (basically a Jolly Green Giant VCR tape, non-digital).

Otherwise, just enjoy it. It can be a fun festival, meet everyone you can and once you've exhausted all the Coming Correct facts you have in your head you can mention your buddy in ATL who was here with a short in '08 and now has a feature in post....trailer available online LOL.... you know, once you've said your peace on Coming Correct ;)

Have fun and report back,

Martay

Thanks Martin. I've been taking all your notes down - I'm trying to learn from the Master himself.

Thanks for watching MentaDUKE. I noticed you have a few things going on. I'm ready for a feature from you my friend. I want to see one before the end of 2010!

One Day before the world premiere at the San Diego Black Film Fest. I'm heading down to the airport in about an hour to fly 4 hours to San Diego. Anybody in the area, feel free to come down and check it out.

Good luck at the festival! Wish I could be there.

Todd

Thanks. We just got back, yesterday. It was a good experience for me. My first "real" festival. There were lots of filmmakers there - most only concerned about their project. But I guess that's how it goes. We did make lots of friends though. I must say the New York people were actually the warmest to us. 3 other teams were there from Atlanta - one guy even won Best Director (from Atlanta). I watched all 3 comedies that were at the fest. Just to see what other people were doing. One of the producers from another comedy was really happy to see more comedies being made as most of the projects were dramas.

It was a good eye opener for me, didn't really change what I thought about distribution and such. The panels on distribution were good, as well as the legal panels. I had been to, two festivals before but never a part to this extreme - we were one of the opening films and in the competition with another 10+ features. Then we had the all access pass, so we were to see everything there was to see. Most people were shooting on the RED, EX1 and HVX. Only one person on the DVX/XL-1 type MiniDV cameras - hopefully this is a wakeup call to some. All of the winners were shooting with these cameras.

Most of the people we talked to that did watch Coming Correct liked the movie and thought it was funny. Almost all of the feedback was positive. So we were happy about that. We took a team of 7 out to the fest, at one time we thought we may have as many as 10, but it was price prohibative to most.

I'm hoping we get into a few more. I'd like to really see more about what people are doing out here.

Who were the other Atlanta folks?

Congratulations again, sounds like a fairly productive trip even if just for more knowledge/experience with Festivals.
