Hey all,

As promised I put a few clips together comparing the Comer 900 and the 126 LED (from ebay).

Its a rough edit, don't have much time lately...

About the lights: Bottom line the comer 900 is a better light, but that comes at 5 times the price. I am still glad I purchased the 126LED light, the soft filter makes it acceptable for what I do. Its shoe mount is pretty flimsy so don't expect to run and gun without it wobbling all over the place. It will go on a light stand when in use...

Comer will always come out of the bag 1st. Seems its more even intensity, wider and warmer. You have the filters at your fingertips with option of spot.

Feel free to chime in

very helpful, ty.
i bet the LP Micro falls somewhere in between the 2, but pretty close to the 126.

really really like the even diffuse spread of the Comer, didn't expect that.
can't wait to get the 1800 some day.

We picked up the Comer 1800 last week from LA Color Shop and VERY impressed with the output. We'll have some test footage up soon, but I'd recommend the light to ANYONE looking for an on-camera LED solution.

The dimmer makes it an choice excellent as a fill for interviews and it easily lights up an entire 500sq ft space at 100%.

If the 900 only had a dimmer, it would be my main on-camera light. The 1800 is great and powerful but i find myself using it at the very low end of the dimmer (as soon it turns on thats enough light)

For now i use 2 1800's on light stands, and a Varizoom/Swit S2010 for on camera, sometimes i use the comer on-camera but i kind of wish i had the 900 WITH A DIMMER

Great Review!!!, i didn't like the 126 color temperature. It looked greenish blueish, by the time you use a gel that gets the temperature just right, you probably lose half the power!

Thanks guys,

Super - I feel you on the dimmer with the 900. Then I would have no need in getting the 1800, is their cleaver plan I'm sure. Although the hi-low is what I was use to coming from a sony light, so it doesn't bother me much.

After making this video I learned more about the lights and their abilities. Pretty much throw away the 3.2k gel and always leave on the soft diffuser when it comes to the 126LED.

And always use the comer 1st :)

I may even buy another 126, they are so frigging cheap. But I should be saving for the 1800...

Great video! Thanks for sharing. I have to admit the 126 light seems a good bargain. But coming from LP Micro, I know how useless it is to shoot 5600K indoor without gel.

btw, when you say color temperature 32K, that should be 3200K. :)

Bought one of the 126 LED lights on ebay. $55 US including postage from Hong Kong. I'm pretty impressed for the price. The hot shoe mount seems a little flimsy and I'm guessing in a year it will have some gaffers tape holding it together. I bought it to use as a little accent light, and I can see putting it on my joby gorilla pod and putting it anywhere I need a little more light. It's been running for 2 hours right now off of a Sony SQ M series Lithium battery. I like being able to use a rechargeable battery or 6 AA's

Cheers

John Christie
